That said, we've almost got everyone's, but there's still a good chunk missing. Especially worrying since most of the missing ones are in the same bracket.

Due to a severe lack of interest and an over abundance of last minute entries, im defaulting to the original setup of the contest.
Starting next round, all participants will have only 1 week to submit their entries. That means, round 3 submissions are due next thursday nite/friday morning.

I submitted my entry but I'm not proud of it. Too much going on at work so I couldn't spend any time for the contest.
Maybe we should try this contest at a less hectic time of year? August is the start of school for a lot of folks, so they won't be able to spend time on something like this. This contest could be so much more if people had time to devote to it.

You'd still get the same problem then. People like to say they'll do something for so many weeks, and then they always bail out halfway through when they either forget or make excuses about how "busy" they have been.

That kind of thing won't ever change, no matter what time of the year it is. In this case it is better to stick to the original rules and just leave the people who will actually commit to doing it. I know when this round became two weeks instead of the one, I waited until the second week to even start taking photos.
I spent the first week thinking, and the second half gathering necessary resources/rethinking.
I'll either have to have a good inspiration early next round, or I'll end up with a subpar picture. That or a dodgy assignment.

Maybe that's how you roll, but not me. I wanted to work on this every day, but couldn't find the time because of work. Once I got home I was too damn tired to be creative. Not all of us live at home/don't work/are on summer break/have nothing better to do.
If trying another time frame doesn't help, then harsh punishment for failing to participate should. Maybe temp bans would motivate these slackers.
