    Jai's Art Stuff

Well, I don't draw a lot, or real awesome, but I decided to post some things here, anyway.

These aren't reallly fan art, because if I tried drawing someone else's stuff, it'd come out crappy, lol. Either way, these are kind of old, and show.. what happened while I was trying to make the picture. The end result.. was because I sent the second to a friend who told me what to color her clothes. The second one really was just.. so I could show her what was what, and for me to try lighting.. which I'm not very good at.

This was also my first time coloring something in on the computer D:

    No one asid stuffs D:

but at least I did another one in my spare time. This shows from the lines, to partway through, to the finished product.

If her eyes look kinda weird, it's because the color was blue, because I could find easier ways to color them that way. And then I changed them with the hue thingy, so they came out green

    Good job!

The balance of the sketch needs a little more practice, but all in all it looks pretty good, especially with the colour.

If.. If you meant her shoulder, then yea, lol.

And thank you! Helpful criticism is always welcomed >.< As I'm learning how to use this graphics program and draw a little better.

I've noticed that you've used cellshading to color your pictures. I have no real idea how to do that well, which is why mine are colored kind of weird.

Well, I just use the lasso tool in PS cs3, select the areas I want to colour, then brush or fill them in. It's nothing impressive really.

Actually, I'm glad someone actually looked at the pictures. Lately, I have been getting no feedback as well. Thanks.

I've looked at a couple. I think you draw really well. I think I should hit you up for a tutorial.

Judging from both drawings, you should definitely work on perspective. Really.

Otherwise they're not too bad. Nice coloring.

Yea. I'm not very good with that, either. I've been doing a lot of 3/4 views with faces to try and get better. I can't really get the proportions right, and guides don't really work that well with me, they just make the picture messy.

Guide lines are like training wheels, if you use them all the time when you're first starting out, you won't need them later on and it will become second nature. It's a habit every fledgling artist should pick up. You can make any one part of the drawing as perfect and detailed as possible, but if it doesn't fit well with the rest of the piece, it will always look "off".

Having said that, body proportions are something I myself should apply that theory to.

Is there like a how to help with drawing thread someplace?

And, yea, I guess so. I think I draw better faces up close than from afar, though, probably because I have more room to work, erase and do them over. I've never found a really good place that tells you how to do 3/4 view faces, or looking up, or down, etc. I find profiles hard, too, just because of the details (the nose, lips, slope of the face).

I thought that if I did more realistic art, then I'd be able to do more correctly, but realistic art is another, entirerly hard lesson in itself.

Body prpoprtions.. I've kinda found become easier when you use that idea that half of them tell you, using the size of the head as a guideline (not that I'm especially good with drawing bodies), but I think I draw them proportionally well, sometimes (height wise).

Then there are poses Another problem altogether.
