Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu - The Secret of Nogizaka Haruka

    Alternative title:
    Haruka Nogizaka's Secret
    乃木坂春香の秘密 (Japanese)

    Genres: comedy, romance

    Plot Summary:
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu centers around Yūto Ayase and Haruka Nogizaka. Yūto is seemingly ordinary, but Haruka is attractive, intelligent, and rich, which prompts other students to idolize her and even give her French nicknames like "Nuit Étoile" (The Silver Star of the Night) and "Lumière du Clavier" (The Shining Princess on the Piano). One day, Yūto wanders into the school library in order to return a book and accidentally stumbles upon Haruka's deepest, darkest secret: she is a diehard fan of anime and manga, in other words, a regular otaku. Promising Haruka to keep this a secret, Yūto becomes her advisor and confidente of some sort and hangs out with her more, though earning some viciously envious glares from his fellow schoolmates. -ANN-

    Nuit Etoilée?
Humm nice but very uncomon for a nickname, it's a first for me even (and I like to give my wife nicks...)
Lumière du Clavier? what the heck in French it's really incredibly odd.

Well, I'll wait for some comments from my fellow gootwooters before I decide if I should go for it.

Seems like the Japanese are back to liking French culture... I don't know if I should be happy about it

Well, it does make sense.. in a way...
Since this is the clavier of a Piano.

The translations are a bit off...(French/English), but I guess it's fine.. Since in a way, it means the same thing. (In a very strange way though)

I know it may have just been a typo, but it says "Nuit Étoile", not "Nuit Étoilée".
Which basically just means, "Night Star".(In bad French)

And so, basically, this anime is about a lucky guy who ends up acquainted with the school idol, who also happen to be an otaku... I will download this later on.

I'll make the sacrifice and have a look at it. The h264 version, anyway.

What an odd script. They seriously translated "neko-mimi musume" as cat-eared daughter which is totally out of context....

It is not even about context. Musume in such a phrase simply means girl in all cases.

Yeah. I was wondering about the same thing. It looked odd, for sure.

A pretty generic looking series altogether. I was expecting it to be a bit more... outrageous or exaggerated but it was, aside from the dude's room mates (or whatever relationship they have), somewhat plain. Also I think Mamiko Noto fit a bit too well into the role of a rich yet gentle and composed high-school idol girl. Some other voice actress could have spiced up the role more.

It sure was a shock, right after I finished Monster...

And yes, I did give it a try and am too a bit unsure what to think of such a start. Everything is pretty average, I smiled 3 times, which is maybe not that bad...
I hope it gets better in the eps to come.

It was weird. I posted the Xvid version, but for some reason saved the H264 torrent, thinking it didn't exist.

Anyway, I was wondering how these guys could resist a show of this genre, and as you can see, they can't:

[BakaWolf-m.3.3.w] Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu 01 (XviD) [B3CCC0BD].avi
    [BakaWolf-m.3.3.w] Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu 01 (H.264) [F538AC33].mkv

m.3.3.w, aka Bakawolf, has been quite reliable in the past, and if they catch up, they'd be the group to go for.

And strange as it may be, here's a PRERELEASE ep2 by Moetaku:

    [Moe-Nigga] Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu - 02 - [My First Time...][PRE-Release][XVID-MP3][3D27B8D0].avi

I have to say I've been enjoying this series quite a bit. Its fair to say in some ways its generic the setup certainly is but they are also moving the plot along much faster then they usually would in a series like this. Nonsensical pitfalls that are often done are completely ignored and instead we get solid character advancement and plot. Heck Episode 3 alone is probably half a series but instead of wasting so much time they not only resolved it in one episode but went well beyond that in furthering the characters.

I'll definitely continue watching this for now and I'd recommend at least trying a few episodes to anyone who likes a good comedy/romance.

I thought that was fast too. I mean, they almost kissed after like 3 episodes. Pat on the back for Haruka's courage, I have to say. She completely judo-threw the guy flying, and broke her secret out to everyone. It's kind of predictable now that the school will slowly start to accept her, as well as her relationship with Yuto. Her father would be a harder nut to crack, but that won't come till later.

I'm just waiting for the swimsuit scenes the OP keeps teasing us with.

I watched the first episode, but it was not as interesting as I thought... It's like the usual shounen harem anime, which I do not really like much...

Except at least 3 episodes in its shown zero signs of being a harem anime. Its ended up much more like a ah my goddess anime with a main couple who encounter some issues instead of a guy with 5-6 girls fawning over him for absolutely no reason.

Its entirely possible that there will be some harem aspects at a later point but when 3 episodes in they make zero attempt to introduce a second love interest I find that a bit hard to believe. Also in Harem the opening/ending usually have the guy being pulled in several directions by all the girls of all shapes and sizes. This it pretty clearly shows him only with the main girl with the other females on the sides in different groups.

I'm just saying I'd give it a couple more episodes if your main complaint is this is in anyway harem.

This seems more like a romance then a harem, I think it will focus on Haruka and Yuto's relationship developing, but with humourous side plots abounding, like Ah My Goddess or Seto no Hanayome (but less funny).

I tried to get through the third episode of this series. But I am so sick of the wimpy, weepy, yet occasionally-sparkily-bright character type that Mamiko Noto plays. This is easily the 30th time she's played a character like this. I can't take it anymore.

That aside, the series is just another rehash of the same stupid plots. They crank these out with the lead characters essentially a paper doll with a different set of clothes (circumstances) on. Oh, no, it's the closet otaku. Otaku are disgusting! But she's so strong willed after she gets a pep talk...

It really doesn't help that half of these characters truly are in fact voiced by Mamiko Noto.

I tried....but this show just isn't doing it for me.

Firstly, I loved the Shana reference, they even played the OP with it, bless those jolly writers.

    /seinen fanman

That aside, I didn't mind this episode as a bit of a day-out/backstory episode. It wasn't much that we didn't get from the previous eps, given our assumption of master/servant relationships. Even so, it was nice to see them flesh out the side characters. It's about all they could do as they advance Yuuto and Haruka's relationship.

About side characters, I'll be looking forward to a more active role for Shiina. As she says, it's note mere coincidence, and her straight forward and strong personality would be a good contrast, and potential love rival of Haruka.

Top that off with a decent share of fanservice (and a loli talking dirty), and we get Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.
