    Birdy the Mighty Decode

    First episode by I-Z:
    http://a.scarywater.net/infinite-zer...E).mp4.torrent

Based on a shounen manga by Yuuki Masami, serialised in Shounen Sunday.

Tsutomu Senkawa is an average high school kid who is busy studying for his senior entrance exams. Tsutomu goes out for some fresh air, after a hard day's work studying for a big test, when he runs into a guy fleeing from a pretty young lady. The pursued man is actually an interplanetary criminal on the run from a Federation agent called Birdy Cephon Altera. Caught in the midst of this chase, Tsutomu gets thrown by the man at Birdy, which kills Tsutomu. Fortunately for Tsutomu, there is a way to keep him alive, although it comes at the price of discarding his body. He ends up merged into Birdy's body.

There was an OVA that came out in 1996, this is an alternate retelling of the story...but here it is by a4e for those interested:

The picture of the girl reminds me of Gunbuster 2.

Based on the first episode this seems like a pretty funny series. I hope it keeps up the good work also in the future.

Although I wonder what kind of a final solution they will arrange for Tsutomu Senkawa's lost body. Not only is it quite inconvenient to share the same body with a galactic law enforcement officer but at some point they must go their separate ways. Unless Birdy really plans to stick around until she's an old bat...

It's also quite a dodgy plot device that the criminal would stay in that same city once discovered. Logic would dictate he changes his location to somewhere else for easier hiding. That would naturally mean Birdy would need to move as well, which would be somewhat troublesome for a high-school student.

This show has some nice animation, I'm also thinking about that sharing body thing. just as kraco said. What resolution can they can up with? maybe they can make a marionette for senkawa?

I figure it will be revealed that he has no real ties to this world and he won't mind going off on some grand space adventure as a passenger inside Birdy's body.

Anyway this series looks interesting, Birdy certainly fits the bill as a heroine worth watching so far, hot, skimpy out-fit, violent disposition, super powers, and gadgets, all win. Definitely worth giving it the chance to pull me in to some sort of interesting (or at least entertaining) plot.

Hey, I have no ties to the outer space but I wouldn't hesitate a second to leave this planet behind if I could see the galaxy out there (especially if it had been proven there is indeed lots of life and stuff there). Now that you mentioned it in such a way, I feel now it would make a nice and a bit funny conclusion to the series. Although they said Earth is a hiding place for lots of galactic criminals so under these circumstances, maybe Birdy will be assigned to Earth permanently as a punishment and that's it.

However, it won't solve the immediate problem that the dude is still a high-school student and can't move around as freely as in a couple of years when he gets rid of the school and could in theory freely travel around the world with no questions asked.

Just watched the first episode, and I really enjoyed it. Fun episode overall, and cool action...

Looks like it'll only be 13 episodes though... I wonder if they have plans for more because this series seems like it can go on for quite a while, especially if they increase the scale of things and go on a galactic adventure of sorts.

Any translators other than wyvern and IZ picking this up? Both of them seem to take liberties with the translations and ad-lib.

Don't know of a better group planning on doing it, but here's episode 2 by IZ:

The body issue got answered. So, it's only temporary until they fix his corpse enough that the mind can be injected back into it.

Still, I wish Tsutomu would kick more ass and be less cowardly and whiny. Like, he should ask Birdy to allow him to control her body in it's original shape for a night... (And we would get the scene we always get in any fantasy where a guy is suddenly turned into a girl for a moment.) Another funny one would be Tsutomu watching porn and attempting some handiwork... Or would that also be sekuhara?

Was Nakasugi possessed by the alien of questionable gender...or are they just playing a trick on us, and only trying to make us think that she is now subject to a similar situation that Birdy/Tsutomu are in?

While it was a feminine hand that had blood leaking off it, and now she comes back to school totally fine, I'd be leaning towards she is. Then again, the Alien of Questionable Gender was standing on a nearby building.

    EDIT:

Ah, I got it. The Alien of Questionable Gender stuffed the Ryunka into her body in order to keep it alive. But which side is the A.o.Q.G. on?

(Whatever the hell a Ryunka is...)

I-Z seems to be taking a vacation so here's ep three from some unknown group:

    Episode 3 - AoShen

The picture quality is poor, the font is too small and the subs could have used some QCing but other than that it was watchable. I hope I-Z's hibernation won't last too long anymore, though.

Been awhile, I think there's 5 raw episodes out already.

The art and music are pretty good, and the voice acting is alrite as well......but i can't stand that guy who follows afro around. Hes so, well, black, for the lack of a better term (well thats not true, there is a better term, but i wont use it here)" Assassin

At first I was really wondering how will they make Birdy less powerful. Because if she retains her original strength in the first episode, it will be easy for her through the series. I guess the excuse they made was the mind fusion thing. I like the idea, Its new and interesting,. the more sync you are the more powerful the body is.

    Thanks shinta|hikari for the sig.

Far away from home yet troubles tag along:

    Episode 4 - AoShen
    Episode 5 - AoShen

I gotta say the last two eps surprised me. (btw... ep5 is HQ). the story might be rather deep with some sort of Union Vs Federation Cold War and WMDs. not just an "alien in school" series.

Yeah. It might do good for the series if it had a bigger picture. So, let's hope what happened in these two eps won't be limited to these two eps, even if the Union now seemingly was forced to back off. Still, we always have those villains back on Earth. Who knows how many of them are actually some extraterrestial creatures in disguise, or are being influenced by aliens for whatever purposes.

I any case Birdy is still cool and keeps kicking ass, and that's the most important thing.
