My favorite is Robotech. I'm just getting around to watching old classics like Ninja Scroll. I have yet to see Vampire Hunter D and Venus Wars, but I hear those are good.

“For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?”
I used to watch a lot of Dragonball Z and Guyver (even though it was gory, I thought it was awesome) when I was a kid.
I watched just about anything really, particularly Gundam. Even now I'm still a bit of a mecha junkie.
Mask (I still have a lot of VHS of this one.. its cool)
He-Man
but there was a "indiana jones" anime too, but I forgot it's name...
All the characters were actually Animals
the main character was a yellow tiger or lion.. with a indiana jones hat + vest.. and they explored tombs and stuffs...
that was really cool!
and there was other stuff like wedding peach which I enjoyed too, because of the "love story"
Gundam Wing was one of the first anime series' i saw and that really got me interested in anime.
DBZ was King, without a doubt. Even with really stupid things like Planet Namek taking weeks to blow, it was awesome. Goku was a great main character, as he could be both goofy and serious at the same time. His rivalry with Vegeta was excellent and provided balance to the series. The only thing that started to take the series down was how easily the next generation started to go Super Saiyan, which was a bit crap.
Rurouni Kenshin was also very good, especially the first OVA. The series was set in a different tone but was also good, until they ran out of manga material and came up with their own wacky story lines.
A lot of people say Akira was good but I found that to be crap.
Oh definitely Gundam Wing and Guyver. My dad used to make me watch Guyver with him, it was great and I still remember the live action movies those were awesome. I would watch them again if I could find them.
My mom got me a bunch of He-man stuff, books tapes etc but I wasn't into them then for some reason although I got into them later.
Dreaming impossible dreams.
Sapphire is awesome!
@DB_Hunter
Akira is one of those weird, existentialist movies that allowed for a lot of films like Ghost in the Shell to become popular. I admit that I vaguely understood it the first time but really enjoyed it, had no clue what was going on when I watched it again years later, and when I watched it a third time, didn't really enjoy it much at all. It's a great "film" but I don't think I really enjoy it for the more simple reasons I used to.
I liked the "movies" (usually hacked together OVAs) Sci-fi Channel played on Saturday Mornings like Dominion Tank Police, Project A-Ko, Venus Wars and even Tenchi Muyo in Love a lot more.
...and yes, Iria was one of those.
I remembered another one.....Astroboy.
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
Ah I finally found the "indiana jones" anime
it was called
Montana Jones
good stuff! Anybody did watch this?
Akira is as good as any 2 hour movie based on a long, complex book.Originally Posted by Ryllharu
That is to say, it's absolute shit. Then I read the manga 2 years later and fell in love with it. When you take a 6 volume long story with great character development and an elaborate plot, then stuff it into a movie keeping only the "cool" parts, you're going to get a mess. I watched the movie a second time after reading the manga and couldn't make it halfway through. The Akira anime would have worked 100 times better as a series, rather than a movie.
The only thing I liked about it was the sound track.
Hah, yeah. I wondered why you were listing a bunch of American cartoons until I remembered what "anime" means in French.Originally Posted by BioAlien

Ohh, and who could forget Mighty Morphin Power rangers !!
i can't recall power rangers being an anime >_>

Well psyke added cartoons to the mix so i just went with the flow
Ahhhh, I knew I was forgetting something. I remember watching the show when I was a kid and how badly I felt for Astroboy. I used to think of him being such a tragic character.Originally Posted by Buffalobiian
voltron was the first anime i remember ever liking, before i even knew what anime was. my favourite, however, would probably have to be fushigi yuugi
OMFG, OUTLAW STAR was the shit for me, including Cowboy Bebop. Akira was bad ass, did not read the manga though. I remember watching Dragonball on a spanish channel alot even though I did not know what they were saying it was cool to watch the action, uhh I was about 7. I think I was like 10 or 12 when I got into outlaw star and cowboy bebop.
Edit (Off Topic) : I remember when I woke up early in the mornings I would watch this show almost like Power Rangers but it was like Medieval, anyone remember that? Also this one other show where he was like a Green Bug morpher from another planet. Lastly I also remember this other show where he like plays the guitar then he summons some sort of Mech or something, no not fooly cooly but almost like power rangers.
No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you when he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you. I am your enemy from now on. From now on, I am your teacher."

was it live action? cause there was a live action medieval power rangers like show.

the intro song was from the kelly family (I m not too sure about *that* though)
one guy (the red ranger if you want) had a two handed sword and something with fire and dragons
Then there was a black guy in a blue uniform which had a trident and a net and some electicity powers
There was a "thief" or something... with a big chain mace... + earth powers
A girl with a white armor... carrying a crossbow + wind powers.
There was a witch (the arch-enemy) and 2 armies were always fighting each other... One army looked like they were vikings and the other some random-country knights (those were the good ones)
but it was *NOT* power rangers mystic force
edit: Ah here mystic knights
Oh my god I remembered it pretty good... but as I said before, are you sure it was an anime :P?
Wow btw, I have to say the english opening is fucking boring...that was the song from the german one
I remembered myself trying to sing this stuff.... but since I suck[ed] hard in english, this was impossible.

If it was an American cartoon, it might have been King Arthur & the Knights of JusticeOriginally Posted by Paulyboy

The opening
That's the only "medieval power rangers" I can think of. It might have predated the American Localization of Power Rangers.
I loved that show.
Daimos is also really good.
Does no one watch Voltes V???
Peace.
