I'm thinking that the last two people will be Possessed Kabuto and Hiruko. Sasori and Hiruko seem to be separate characters in every single game that they have appeared in together.

PF: Storm 1 had character intros. Before the beginning of the match in the Storm 2 demos, we have not seen character intros. Does that mean there will be no character intros in Storm 2?
HM: No, the intros prior to the fighting are still present in Storm 2.

HM: They have been shortened to make the game more fluid online for a superior gaming experience.

HM: No, both versions are equal in that sense, because it seemed unfair that, being a multi-platform game, a version will benefit from content not available to the other.

So 44, that leaves 4 characters left now, but I'm guessing 6 tails will be a different character all together, instead of just a costume for Naruto.
But that still leaves us with 3 final characters....still hope for kabutoro/danzou/raikage? Or just 1/2/3 Hokage's?

I really hope they have state changes like Accel 3. I don't want to see Sage Naruto and the 6 tails in separate slots.
I'm thinking that two of the other characters will be Shizune and Konohamaru, since they are two people from the Pain invasion that I haven't seen yet.
Zetsu is the only Akatsuki member that isn't in yet, so maybe he'll be a surprise character.
I'm hoping it's the 3 Kage since we at least know what they can do. I can't recall seeing Zetsu ever fight at all so any technique he uses would just be made up BS.
Since the 4th is there it might be possible that the last 4 are Shizune, Konohamaru, Rin and Obito.
That will probably be one of the battles I will play over and over and over and over ad infinitum..
This is off topic, but have you guys seen Naruto Shippuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen Special for the Wii? It comes out in December in Japan and seems to go past the Pain arc. The latest scan has the Raikage in it.

Namco has been releasing these behind the game videos. I wasn't really interested in them until they posted the third one. The third one shows the character select screen without the characters being hidden.

Around the 3:42 mark one dude mentions that there are 44 playable characters then they show the character select screen which has 42 slots on it. Naruto and Sasuke both have 2 slots. Sage Mode Naruto and Taka Sasuke are separate characters.

Makes sense, both characters have drastically different fighting styles from their previous counterparts
