I wonder if they will include the younger versions of the characters too though, just like what they did with accel 1/2.
Anyway, they say to include over 15 new characters.
Chiyo, Hidan, Kakuzu, Deidara, Sasori and Pein have already been confirmed. That leaves at least 9 more characters, I'm thinking of:
Konan, Tobi, Killerbee, Suigetsu, Juugo, Karin, Raikage, Sai and Yamato.
Then hopefully we'll get more stuff like Hokages 1/2/4, Danzou, Sound 5, Anko, Hanabi, Sound 3.... >_>

I too want the past characters... though Im more interested in seeing the old ones we didn't get to play with... as in the Sound 5. Unlikely though.
They need to make a decent number of characters for online play. Specially if all of them play the same like the first game...
I hope they do away with the support only characters nonsense. I'd rather lose a few support characters and have them all as playable.

so im assuming since its coming to japan in the fall its gonna be at least another year for the US release? there anyway to play these on not imported consoles like the gamecube did?

No, the controls are different from the Wii / Gamecube games. You pretty much only have 1 attack button on Ultimate Ninja games compared to multiple on the Clash of Ninja series.
Circle - Attack
Triangle - Throw Kunai
vs
A - Strong Attack
B - Weak Attack
Y - Thorw
X - Jutsu
