Or perhaps ^ that's considered "rude". I'm not entirely sure.

Your friend would be totally shocked that I ate 3 cans of spaghetti for lunch today.
She actually likes spaghetti; just when its eaten in its proper place. FYI, she is still up in arms about it.

But what if it's from a can?

    Cold?

    With a plastic fork?

I don't know why you are trying to make yourself seem sad. I don't think she would care as long as you ate it away from people and in a static setting. Its really quite funny how worked up she gets. She is very authoritarian, even going so far as to say that she doesn't want people smoking near her, making noise, or looking at her a certain way. I am glad she is not a lawmaker or anything. She would totally enforce a police state.

Not seem sad, but it sounded like you were saying she finds eating pasta alright as long as it's "done right", so I just pointed out where it's not "right". I have lunch in the food courts of the shopping centre, so it's static, but hardly away from people. Not that I care (anymore) anyway. I've gotten over a good deal of that "self conscious" phase.

I get the smoking thing, though I personally don't really take that much effort to avoid second-hand smoke. Noise I get annoyed at but don't do anything about, and looks I can't do anything about anyway.

    Your friend sounds.. interesting.

She is actually very interesting. I would not say she is the typical Korean, but there are a lot of things from her native culture that don't translate to the US that we debate the merits of. She is also very artistic as well. However, she thinks I am a massive pervert for some strange reason. I just asked her about eating the cans of spaghetti, and she said "If you are homeless, its fine..."

We've got this card at work that can be used with us, as well as any other store that's affiliated with this supermarket chain. It earns them reward points for every dollar spent over 30 (spending $32 in one transaction earns you 2 points etc). I only ask for the card when the transaction is over 30$. If they have it out already and give it to me (regardless of the price of the purchase) then it's quicker if I just scan it and pass it back to them. Sometimes they realise too late that we accept the card in the store, and try to dig it out - when that happens, I tell them that it doesn't matter if the purchase is under $30.

Today, I was elsewhere doing stock filling, and a lady went up to my colleague at the counter to check out. My colleague accepts her card, and she happily(?) says to her that "That guy wouldn't let me scan my card last time".

My colleague told me of this afterwards and I smiled at the customer's stubborn ignorance and perceived reading of the encounter.

Then there was another woman who tried to get the elevator to wait for her as she waited in line to be served. She was too late, however, and the elevator left without her. Then, when it was her turn to pay, she noticed the elevator come back and said "gee, that was quick!" (This place only has 3 levels.... it can only take so long.. >_<" ). So she tries to get us to hurry up, and then rushes out and yells at the guy to wait for her. (The elevator is glass and see-through. The inside is visible to us, but you have to walk around to the other side of the glass elevator pillar for the door). The Asian man inside couldn't hear her due to the distance between her and the door, so she starts tapping the glass with her keys. The man turns around confused. The woman keeps tapping and talking as she makes her way around to the elevator door while the man presses a button on the panel. She makes it in, and all was peaceful.

Little did she know that the man was in fact pressing the close button, having seen a crazy woman tapping, yapping and making her way around to him. Poor guy might have been scared or something, lol.

That put a little spice to my otherwise uneventful day.

The guy on the right is a total n00b. His form is all messed up. But just look at the serene expression of the man on the left, and it's clear he's a real sage. He can even fight the other guy with his eyes closed, whereas the white shirt chap can't even bear to look at his opponent's might.

While I was out today I found a tube of Autosol Metal Polish at a local hardware store. I realize it's kind of lame to get excited about something so mundane but I've been looking for this stuff for more than 4 years at local retailers.

Did you buy a bucketload just in case the store stopped trading and you were out of it again?

I tend to do that when I see something that I want, but is almost impossible to get.

It wasn't dangerous for it to do that?? :S

As I am right now, I can tell you I won't have the guts to jump into a pool of water deeper than I am tall if I'm blind.

Dogs use their olfactory sense much more than their eyes. Visibility in a river that deep is poor anyway so sight isn't much help when searching the bottom.

It's like you jumping into a pool of water deeper than your height when you can't smell anything due to a stuffy nose.

I wonder about that. On Mythbusters, Adam and Jamie dressed up like the other including rubber masks on their faces, and then Jamie's wife brought their dog and the dog went to Adam dressed up like Jamie instead of the real Jamie.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

And on yet another ep they were unable to fool a bloodhound/drugsniffer at all, no matter how much they tried to mask the smells.

If a dog tries to sniff underwater, it will drown, right? Or can a dog draw water into its nose without a risk of it ending up into its respiratory tract?

No...but I was really tempted. I'm really only using it on my mufflers and I want to make sure it's as good as I remember before committing to a bunch of tubes.

It reminds me of when Canadian Tire started carrying 303 Aerospace Protectant a few years ago. I thought it was pretty good that this awesome product was readily available. At that time, my bottle was still half full and I assumed it would remain available so I didn't think to buy any. I went to a location the other day and they didn't have any. I asked an employee and he said they stopped carrying it last year. D'oh.

It will probably drown. I just meant that sight isn't that valuable for a dog in the first place so losing it won't make the dog afraid of going into deep water.

My main worry was that without sight, can you reliably find your way back to the surface again? We've got balance sensors in our inner ears, and our body would naturally float given that we've got air in our lungs, but I have no idea how it'd go in practice.
