Unless high school sucked real bad, I think you'll regret having to leave. It's all downhill from there until you figure out what life is about. That could take a while.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

I bought this hard disk a month or two ago, and I went out of my way to get it, plus paying a bit more, since from my research it should be a very quiet 3.5" drive.

It's been very quiet indeed, and I'm quite happy with it.

It's always good to see some numbers though to know you're not being optimistic or ignorant.

Seeing these test results made me smile

Hmm... Even the computer hardware shop that's nearest to me (quite a good shop, though; I've been getting stuff from there lately) seems to be selling that particular drive. You must have had bad luck if you needed to go out of your way to get it. An interesting drive in any case and certainly the price isn't ruining it. HD noises have always bothered me most of all computer noises (aside from worn-out fans). Gotta keep this product line in mind in the future.

Well well, 2 months down the track, and everybody's stocking them

Guess I should have called up and asked. They're also a fair bit cheaper. Damn shop selling high 'cause they got it first!

The one most convenient for me doesn't stock Samsung HDDs though, and the one next closest only had the older EcoGreen F1 models when I checked, which used 333MB density platters rather than 500MB.

I found out that I missed the first 2 episodes of entourage season 5. They have it on On Demand now so I got to watch "new" episodes of entourage : ) already pre-ordered it from amazon.

I was trying to remember a movie that I watched a long time ago. It had a kid who was mischievious to the whole town and his neighbor was named Mr. Wilson. I managed to find out that the movie that I was looking for was called Dennis the Menace. I downloaded and rewatched it for memories.

I find it really weird that you'd have trouble remembering that, since Dennis the Menace is a character who's so deeply ingrained in US pop culture.

There's also a British version of Dennis the Menace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBC7vqhOyDM, though it's completely unrelated to the American one.

I received my 30mW green laser pointer in the mail today. It's amazingly bright, especially at night. The beam is visible and it supposedly has a range of a few kilometers. I tried shining it in my neighborhood, and everything it hits lights up with an extremely bright patch of green. For only $20 CAD, I'm more than satisfied. The build quality is superb for something this cheap.

I'm absolutely sure something like that isn't even allowed over here. I think the limit is 5mW if not even less these days for any laser pointers. If I ordered a pointer like that from the USA, I'd run a high risk of losing it at the customs, no doubt.

Kind of a pity, but on the other hand there are enough idiots around who would use them against people (which is of course precisely why the nanny state won't allow them).

Anything over 5mW isn't allowed in the USA either. Good thing I'm in Canada.

This thing is seriously powerful, and I can see why the government doesn't want the Average Joe to get his hands on one.

Oh. I could have sworn I've seen an American company marketing those more powerful lasers. Maybe I remembered wrong, then.

I actually meant you can't ship >5mW lasers into the USA. Maybe the policy is different for lasers made in USA. It probably is.

Charlton Heston and the National Supervillain Association are trying to Protect our constitutional rights to wield powerful lasers. And get rid of that damn five-day waiting period to buy lasers.

Dinner made me smile today. I woke up this morning and made a rib rub. Then I meticulously trimmed the fat from the spare ribs that my wife bought yesterday. After I seasoned my spare ribs with my rib rub, I spent about four-and-a-half hours grilling. Another thirty minutes basting completed the task. The dinner I spent all day making turned out damn tasty.
