    Game: Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3

Is it any better than the previous installments?

I've played both ultimate ninja 2 and heroes and i have to say i was greatly disappointed with what they did with it. Just the way how they made it so easy to counter every single move was ridiculous, i remember playing it with friends for about 10 min per game because we kept countering each other's counter...

If i'm gonna get this i want at least some new characters and maybe a harder way to perform the ultimate jutsus as well since till now 1 lucky shot could easily give you the win.

I imported the Japanese version 2 years ago.

It was good in my opinion, but I never did play the other 2 though.

Likewise, I've had the JP version for the longest time now.

For the characters and additions made to the old characters, it is worth it over the previous installments. Doutou isn't that sorely missed at all, seeing as how Jirobou plays pretty similarly. Picking a single ougi to use make it easier to use in battle so as to make them less obvious to enemies. And the one main problem that's been plaguing the games is still there: Kawarimi-no-jutsu mashing pretty much comprises any higher level playing.

All in all, I'm still waiting for a later edition of Accel when they're further into the timeskip.

I never learned to use Kawarimi...

And likewise... I want to wait for an Accel 3 or 4 to get 'those' characters. But with fillers... I guess I'll be playing (hopefully) the Naruto PS3 Project first.

Ah, it's simple enough, to a fault. The premise is that you need to block as soon as an attack makes contact. The concept isn't bad, but the way the game has it implemented, you could literally mash the shoulder buttons when you anticipate getting hit, thus achieving a success rate of around 95% evasion.

The Ultimate series promotes "mash butan, win game" pretty badly.

Yeah your problems have been fixed, there many are more characters than the first two had and ultimates are much harder to hit people with since subbing and jutsu usage are more expensive chakra wise. The ultimates have also been cut down to just one cutscene and don't do nearly as much damage as they did in the other games. Reducing damage is also much easier to do and it does significantly reduce damage this time around, plus you are able to completely stop your opponent's ultimates now even if you do get hit with them. No one is going to be or atleast shouldn't be getting any lucky one shots anymore. The countering is just as easy to do now if not easier but I highly doubt you'll be getting any 10 minute battles because spamming it will completely use up your chakra in a very short time.

So if you haven't played or don't have any of the other Japanese versions(NH3, Accel 1&2) then I would recommend getting it.

I've been playing the game for some time now and:

I like it what they did to naruto, just using the clones to throw was beyond retarded.

The new ougi system is nice too, still does some nice dmg but not enough so that 1 lucky shot hands you the battle

The new jutsu are fun to use, especially chidori and rasengan

The combo system is still too simple but i can live with that

    Countering is still too easy

Overall, it eliminated most of UN 2's flaws but it still has to change and fix some of its features so it can attract players other then the anime fans.
