You aren't supposed to believe. The premise makes no sense whatsoever: Two sanctioned government agencies at an open, armed war with each other in an otherwise peaceful country? However, the odd setting doesn't prevent them from making it a good show, and aside from the very background of the setting, it's not constantly forcing ridiculous things down your throat.

It is and it isn't -- forcing things down my throat.

I enjoy some of the writing, but its hard to follow along and have suspension of disbelief when it uses bad devices to move the plot forward. One of the emotional high points in the first episode involved a man attacking a soldier librarian over a nudy magazine. I kept thinking how stupid the situation was.

The show muddles between a decent comedy and pants-on-head stupid drama. I really like the normal conversations people have, but when it switches modes I lose all interest.

we haven't really seen how the general population is acting. but the situation could be similar to what you had in Northern Ireland (except that in Toshokan Sensou, the groups are sanctioned by the government... which i agree is weird. Actually what kind of sick president accepts two warring groups on his soil?)

It's actually very funny and somewhat ironic that i started watching this show right after i finished a government term paper about Censorship.

I get really mixed feelings watching this show. The one scene with that woman dying while she was giving a book to the commander, the thoughts going on in my head when i watching that scene is basically "laugh? frown? this is suppose to sad, yet it's so incredibly cheesy. WTF do i do in this situation?". I mean, this show is like a serious war drama over what could possibly be some of worst reasons for open conflicts.

But i digress, it's probably not a good idea to try and take the premise seriously. The actual content itself is pretty decent as long as they don't go into the overly dramatics cut scene where peoples sacrifice themselves for paperbacks.

I agree. It definitely needs to be a hardcover to be worth sacrificing your live for.

They're decent, there might be a small mistake here and there, but I watched them awhile back so I can't remember really. They also just released episode 7.

(too lazy to post them all so... http://www.baka-updates.com/search.p...sou&type=title)

It's pretty good character development all around. and how the hell do you get bullied with assault rifle training? Those Affairs ppl in Mito are courageous as hell!

Heh. I actually kept waiting till a few days ago when I finally gave up and watched the series till the end with Ocha subs. But nevertheless, it's good news and I'll rather burn Froth-Menclave. Especially since I have xvids from Ocha (due to stupid Baka-Updates only listing xvid).

This was a finy series, all in all.

Well, finally finished the series. Overall quite a fun series. To tell the truth, I was expecting it would be better and was also hoping it would be longer and maybe get more serious or violent as the series went on. But, it was a fun series with fun characters, and the little action it had was well animated I thought.

Here's the full series by Froth-Bite & Menclave:

Thanks Munsu. It was a really good looking release by those guys that is for sure. Also apparently there is an extra episode that just came out on DVD release or something and the Menclave guys are getting their hands on that and are going to release that as well.

A nice DVD special for anybody missing this series:

    DVD Special - Froth-Bite-Menclave
or from another tracker, the same thing:
    DVD Special - Froth-Bite-Menclave

That's Froth-Bite's final release for anyone who cares. A new group was formed called Frostii... a combination of Ureshii and Froth-Bite.
    http://frostii.com/

Ureshii did licensed anime... and Froth-Bite had a hard policy against it, so I wonder how this group will behave.

Just saw the DVD special, and it was indeed a nice one.

By the way, any of you guys know what is said here? It appears at the end of the special:

It's a general disclaimer saying that the characters are fictional and that similarities with real people are mere coincidence and all that crap.

Too bad it is not an announcement of a second season.

    Peace.
