I don't know how google gave you Ruixin. 瑞欣 sounds very nice indeed, particularly in Cantonese, which I'm assuming is how it was intended. Does Sui Yun have a special meaning too?

I've heard the name before, so unless there is a different pronunciation decided on by the parents, I think we're all on the same page. Like Xan said, it was the REE part of the phonetic explanation that threw us off, since we read REE with the English pronunciation instead of the Japanese. Either way, it's a very cute name.lol!!! I just automatically read it the Japanese way since he said it was Japanese already.

Don't the Japanese say yu na when they say not to call someone a particular word? Like "omae te yu na" means "don't call me you".

That's iu na (言う な), meaning don't say, in it's imperative form. And "omae de iu na" sounds more like "Don't say omae", possibly because omae is a more impolite form of anata.
It was me. The name Rena is actually inspired from fictional character Yanase Rena (ヤナセ・レナ) from the Ultraman Tiga series, as well as Tanaka Reina (田中れいな), currently H!P artist.
