    Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

    First episode by SS-Eclipse:

About 1,000 years ago, there was a creature called “Enka”. Enka was very powerful and almost ruined the world with destruction and holocaust. Human beings were in danger of extinction. The survivors banded together against Enka, and they managed to defeat it. However, Enka left a ominous curse before its death.

“My child, sleeping where no one knows, will wake up 1,000 years later, and it will succeed my will to ruin the world."

2063 AD: Several children that are potential heirs of Enka are discovered via DNA testing. However, even with the latest technology, no one can identify the true child with certainty.

Therefore, the Japanese Imperial Agency for Supernatural Phenomena, which handles supernatural phenomena and abnormal life forms, launches an operation.

    OPERATION: Peaceful Family

They gather potential children of Enka into one place to watch each other and find the true child. Also, they expect that the child will develop a love of family while it is living as a member of a family, and that he/she will feel reluctant to kill his/her family, i.e. by destroying the world.

The person who plays the role of the father is Midarezaki Ohka. He works for the agency, and was chosen to be the father before he was aware of it. The mother is Kyoka, a possible child of Enka. Add to this five possible children and a strange family life begins.

The Opening to this series gave me some unholy combination of ADD and diabetes.

    I.. think I like it.

    A couple side notes
The wife talks like a machine gun, her ammunition are words and she NEVER RUNS OUT.
The Jellyfish sounds like the Ousanshou from Pani Poni Dash
The Killing Machine is Bamboo Blade's star kendo master.

    That is all.

Kyouka (the cat girl), is such an huge bitch. Wonderful. I've been waiting for another series like this.

Though I have to say right now that I think it will turn out to be Yuka who was supposed to destroy the world. She's cute, not overly suspicious (except for the scars on her back, I knew it was going to be something), and from the outside looks "normal." It's clear she's had a tough life, and that just increases my suspicions.

I expected the Killing Machine to be a 'daughter,' given who is voicing it, but...whatever.

This series really does remind me of Pani Poni, but a little less "out there" in terms of visual style.

[Eclipse] Kyouran Kazoku Nikki - Eps 2

    [episodic content follows below]

As expected, Yuuka has had a horrible life. But the rest of the "family" hasn't had such a wonderful life either.

Still, for Kyouka being an egotistical, self-absorbed, narcissistic, megalomaniacal psychopath, she's still a good "mother." She's also somehow telepathic. For happily agreeing to this plan because it might be fun, she sure is taking her maternal responsibilities seriously.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised, and her plan to ingratiate Yuuka to her classmates was indeed a good plan.

    [end spoilers]

The animation goes up and down in quality this episode, but I think I'll stick with this series.

I hope they won't stay too long on the bullying theme... Not only is it not entertaining in the least, but I also dislike it. (Like anyone who were/are bullied and knows how it feels like.)

Other than that, I may keep watching this one. (Unless the theme stays on bullying too long, which I hope will end in the next episode)

[SS-Eclipse] Kyouran Kazoku Nikki episode 04 (HD)

    Episodic Content Follows Below

I forgot that Yuuka could eat Kyouka's not-quite-alive, not-dead, begging-for-its-own-death "cuisine." Much less that she actually enjoyed it. It seems that Chika also doesn't have qualms with it. This begs the question:

What the hell were the Himemiya's feeding to Reiko and Senko that the two would find Kyouka's cooking appealing?

That is far more disturbing and sad than all the physical abuse they showed in the flashbacks.

The rest of this episode was great. Off the wall insanity. I loved that Chieri didn't really seem to care that Kyouka said 5 people, 2 pets, and a robot over the phone, and then later considered Kyouka one of the pets when she came for a visit.

    EDIT: Gekka-beams are nice too.

This series is so crazy. Perhaps I'm not so politically correct, but I'd watch it again just to see Ginichi's flaming freak-out about Chika's luminous skin. . .sooo funny. I also like how Chika knows a little about what's up and isn't just an obsessed girl throwaway character.

Lol at the ending song too.

After watching the first ep of this show, I'm now forced to ask: Is LSD legal in Japan? Nothing else can explain how somebody can write stuff like this. I don't yet know if I even like this or not. I was just sitting stupefied trying to make some sense out of it.

I don't know... I tried watching this, then it started to get too crazy that I can't keep up with the comedy...
