Fate/Stay Night: The Game

Well, months down the track, I've finally finished the Fate arc.

I didn't think the game executed the finale against Gilgamesh as well as the anime did. The other fights, especially against Lancer and Berserker were good to read though, and everything was made up for with the superior epilogue IMO. The anime's ending was good, but I those final scenes always weren't fleshed out just enough. Glad the game fixed that for me.

One difference I thought was weird was how in the game downplayed Rin's stab wound by Kirei. The anime kept me on my toes, wondering whether about whether she's going to die or not, which was a good point in my books.

On the other hand, the epilogue did a good job as a transition between Fate and UBW by hinting some Rin romance.

Off to play UBW now. Good thing the movie doesn't come out to next year.

As for the finale you have to understand it was the final episode and as such they went all out using every element from the fate ending and throwing in some stuff from the other routes as well so there's really no comparison.

I don't know what you mean by downplayed, personally i was entertaining the possibility of her death up to the point we meet her in the prologue

I think you'll enjoy the UBW route more than the fate one ( i know i did ), especially if you're thick enough to not have caught on with the huge spoiler of that route ( here's hoping you are )

True. They actually showed how Distant Avalon looks. Btw, by finale, I meant the very final fight at the temple.

From my memory of the anime, Rin never said she treated her own wounds. If she did, she didn't say it in a way that implied she's even better than a doctor. All she said in the anime was that there was something even more important to tell Shirou (than treating her wound).

Secondly, in the game, Shirou said that Rin looked healthy, and they even carried her back to her room so she could sleep.

In the anime, we didn't hear or see any of that (from memory, again). Rin's final words about Shirou dying when she wakes up sounded exactly like a bluff. The fact that she shrugged off the possibility of if she wakes with when made the possibility of her death all the more real. If anything, at that moment it was more likely she'd die by morning instead of Shirou.

I think you'll enjoy the UBW route more than the fate one ( i know i did ), especially if you're thick enough to not have caught on with the huge spoiler of that route ( here's hoping you are )

I won't ask what these "spoilers" are, but if they're about the real identity of Archer, I already know.
I spoiled myself as soon as Beserker killed him, because I didn't intend of playing the game at the time. I would have if I knew there was such a thing as mirrormoon back then.

Well Bill it is a bit of spoiler - but not the biggest one. I hope that you can enjoy UBW - imo best route.

Finished FSN

Well, I liked the Fate arc
Unlimited Blade works felt a little dull after Fate.

Heavens Feel was just plainly unecessary to me and I wish I had not played it at all.

I guess my reaction is due to the fact that I like Saber. Also, no matter how I read things, Heavens feel is more
like a bad ending to the game and should be played at the beginning, which is impossible as you unlock it only with Fate and UBW.

Pace is very slow at times and it gets boring to a painful degree, falling to abyss in the HF arc if you're a Saber fan, be warned

That's how I felt about HF as well.

I liked UBW a lot though, but the Fate arc is still the best.

Saber fans unite!

EDIT: BTW, have you seen the final ending for the Fate arc? It was added in the console release of the VN I think.

No, it is the continuation of that. The ending only exists in Realta Nua, the PS2 version of FSN. I think you can find it in youtube.

That's definitely not true. Because I never cleared 10% of Tiger dojos, but have clicked through the extended Fate ending. I reckon having played the main routes is enough. At max having cleared both the true and good endings of UBW and HF. But absolutely not having cleared all the Taiga dojos. You do get something out if you do that, but it's not the longer Fate ending.

Ok, my save before the end of Fate did not lead to that realta nua end, even redoing it. I have to check my walkthrough to see if another set of choices is possible exculding the other routes and bad ends.

There should appear a "Last Episode" text (button) below the LOAD START CONFIG EXTRA and above the EXIT main menu items for the extra Fate ending. The mouseover says "Begin Last Episode". So, in that sense it's exceedingly evident when it's available.

Well, right after my last post this morning, I tested some alternatives and got new text towards the end. Since I'm busy with rebuilding my kitchen/bathroom/toilets/living room and office... I did not have time finishing that and will try either in the minutes to come (right before lunch) or this evening, something like 7 to 8 hours from now.

I'll be careful of what you tell me since I never really had anything changing except the cherry blossom background after completing UBW route 1

Fate\Hollow Ataraxia isn't translated fully. heck, even single route isn't translated.

I finally got around the problem I had with Last Episode.
I had a Realta Nua version, but without Last Episode... it's as simple as that.

I got the enhancement patch and Last Episode appeared immediately since everything was ready for unlocking.

It's too early to tell if I enjoyed that, but it was worth it. Also, you can finally finish the game on a lighter note.
