If I had to compare him to another likeable character, it would be Harima. They are nothing alike personality wise, but they are both really good but stupid people that do stupid things.

Peace.
Lol Hosaka makes the high school scenes for me. All the other stuff that went on with out him, or Kana/Chiaki felt painfully dull. I feel bad for saying it but Haruka's character doesn't really entertain on its own, yet when you they add in the supporting cast to create humor she tends to be more of a rally point than an actual contributer to the humor.
I really like how Kana & Chiaki interact with one another and thus create humor, but Haruka tends to simply go about her business like a normal person would and humor happens to spawn around her due to the responses she elicits from people. I just wish she was more able to create humor on her own since I think she's just so cute and awesome.
Wow 2000 posts.... maybe now I'll get a life.
It's only fitting that Hosaka is voiced by the guy that did Kazuma from Kaze no Stigma.
now that u mention it...they do look similiar (hairstyle)
and..
the pasta part in school > all
i really like hosaka now xD..
kana + hosaka = best characters in minami-ke
btw, poor kana : "shall i toast the bread now =|?" - "GO NOW!" - "=[ "

Fun will be had by all.
Fail to heed these releases and less fun you shall have:
Episode 10 h264 - Ayako
Episode 10 xvid - Ayako
No words can truly describe how weird that episode was.
I'm starting to think that Kana is actually the smartest of the three sisters. She acts like a moron, but Chiaki and Haruka really don't notice that Mako-chan is a boy...
The dialogue in the Home Ec scene was just too fucking strange. For a second I thought Ayako didn't QC that entire section, but the translation is pretty dead on (easy words for me to understand).
Then to top it all off, a bag floats up into the air, and a crow flies off with it. WTF?
I love this series, but sometimes it makes me think I'm going insane.
Based on the usual anime series I sometimes try to predict what might happen next but more often than not such predictions are totally off. It's one weird series.
The crow scene was interesting. Kind of combined the usual an empty street with litter flying with the wind and the crow flying by scenes.
"dont drag squirrils in our argument!"
minami-ke is one of the best series i've ever watched. the dialouges are just too funny
"so he seeks help from Touma... trying to escape death, eh?" (or something like that) xD
all hail minami-ke!
sry 4 double post but i've got a question (*bump*)
how many episodes does this series have? i read something about only 10 episodes! is this true?
this is my favorite comedy series this year (and possible next year too!) i dont want it to end!
13. A regular half season series length.
Too bad...
Have no fear! Minami-ke ~Okawari~ starts Jan 26, '08!
I don't know a thing about it, but it has Minami-ke in the name and that's enough for me.
From what I've heard, it's another adaptation of the manga. I haven't read the manga so I don't know how faithful this first series was to it, but on the other hand considering how good this has been, one would assume pretty faithful. Well, only time will tell which one of these two series turns out to be better.
It would be kind of weird to watch the other one if the voice actors are different...
So far, the cast is identical. The animation however, is quite different.
The "bible black" faces will most likely be gone. Those shots are part of what makes this season so funny.
if it is just that, which is different in the animation, i m fine.... it was funny sometimes, but well a "normal" animated face has the same effect to me in that case.
i just hope they keep up the good animation... the movement of the characters n stuff are pretty good!
Well, it's a bit more than just that. If you haven't see it before, now you will:
current first, Okawari second.
It's quite a bit different.
EDIT:
A bit more detail about the styles:
The original is animated by Doumu, notable animation production including, Onegai Teacher, Onegai Twins, DearS, and Ichigo Mashimaro.
Okawari is animated by asread, notable animation production including, Shuffle! and the upcoming Kiddy Grade 2.

Ugh, the original animation just fits so much better. Kana looks even more loli than Chiaki.
Agreed, if it's just the animation changing I don't think I'll enjoy the next season as much...
The new Kana definately doesn't look like she could pull off that look they do where they get all serious (I that what you're calling the Bible Black look?). Anyway 'that look' generally indicates something interesting is going to happen but I like it the best when Kana does it since she normally looks so goofy and scattered but when she gets like that she becomes focused and intelligent for a few seconds and says something sure to lead to hilarity.

I had very good laugh at this episode. And Haruka sure have ( in Mortal Cobat voice) overkill technique.
