    No, it's still recommendation.

It's still too early to tell what's really number one for me this season, and I can't say right off that it will break into my top 5, but Myself ; Yourself seems to be one of the most interesting series.

It seems to come off as a utterly generic comedy/romance series, but there's a lot hidden underneath. Hints at various events of the past, motivations, shifts in personality, all left unsaid, but referenced through the animated expressions. Sidelong glances characters give to each other, various expressions, etc. It's coming out a lot deeper than it appears.

Then there's Clannad. Typical Kanon/AIR Kyoto Animation eye candy. So far, a little less down the supernatural path and more humorous violence.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is another good currently airing show. It's got a lot of dark humor and franticness and keeps you laughing while it pokes fun at different stereotypes and cultural issues in Japan. A draw back is that it's being subbed rather slowly, possibly due to the amount of random background comments that appear on the walls behind characters frequently.

Not really sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm looking for recommendations on new anime series. I'm kinda just cruising with Naruto, Bleach and need something good. Started Genshiken 2, which is funny as always, but would like to try 1 or 2 more series. Anything good out now?

You didn't give me a lot of examples of what you like to work from. Like good "good" or just shonen "good"? Airing or just finished? I'll just cover all of them since I'll be at work before you answer.

    shonen series "good":
    - Gundam 00 (airing), Sky Girls (airing), Idolmaster Xenoglossia (just ended), all mecha series.
    - Claymore (just ended), Heroic Age (just ended),
    - Nagasarate Airantou (just ended) light, slice of life inane comedy series.
It's actually been a bad two seasons, and now just starting, for shonen series, only a few really standout series.

    good "good":
    - School Days (just ended, first episodes are boring as hell, but necessary)
    - Gurren Lagann (just ended), supreme badass mecha.
    - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai (first a few seasons ago, second still airing) excellent story and excessive violence.
    - Lucky Star (just ended), Minami-ke (airing) both slice of life comedy series.

Shows promise of being good "good":
    - CLANNAD (airing), Myself ; Yourself (airing), both romance/comedies, but deeper than they seem.

Hmm, probably Shakugan no Shana Second, but you need to watch the first season. Other than that, this season is pretty bad. You can give Dragonaut, Gundam 00, Clannad, Bamboo Blade, Blue Drop, Rental Magica, and see if anything seems interesting among those.

The ones I'm waiting for are Juushin Enbu, Ghost Hound, and Shion no Ou, but they haven't started or have been released yet.

You're better off looking for a series from past seasons.

Nothing good eh? Maybe I'll just wait till next season to try something. Is Gundam 00 a contunuation of Seed? It seems as though nothing else is worth trying...

Gundam 00 is a new series in a new universe, nothing to do with SEED.

Did you not see Ryllharu's post... several of the series he mentioned are shaping up to be pretty good, though there haven't been any amazing mind-blowing first episodes yet this season. Among all the shows listed by both Bud and Ryl you will probably find at least one that interests you enough to keep watching.

I suspect Juushin Enbu would be the one you'd like if you're into action/fantasy , it's only got one episode out but it wasn't bad and shows some promise.

Though it doesn't have anything to do with SEED, is it in the mold of SEED? Or is more like the older Gundams? Because I enjoyed SEED a lot, but didn't care for the earlier ones.

No clue, I've only seen the first episode. Some find a bit of similarities with Gundam Wing, but just watch the first episode and see for yourself, it's only 20 minutes of your life you can afford to waste.

Well Hunter X Hunter can be classified as both "finished" and "unfinished". If you've never read the HXH manga before the anime could be considered finished since there is no plan for any new anime content yet. The mangaka of HXH fell ill or something and went into hiatus for almost 2 years so the manga is not very far ahead of the anime despite it ending a long time ago.

I've never watched the older Gundams... and i liked SEED... Gundam 00 feels like the better parts of SEED so far (with the vivid depiction of the conflicts) but with no looped action sequences.

Try watching Koi Koi 7 i find it funny. Its plot is a bit old though but its worth the watch. Now, regarding the Gundam OO, i think its too early to judge but in my personal advocacy, that anime is a rip-off of Gundam Wing when it comes to characters i mean the pilots. Why? Because there are four gundam pilots and same as Gundam Wing one of them is a bit wussy looking. Heck I even mistook that pilot for a girl since he looked kinda pretty but when he spoke i was like Oh my ****ing God!

Gundam wing had 5 pilots right? You must have a really bad eye to mistook Setsuna for a girl.

  17. #397
Oh yeah, i forgot that GW had five pilots. Anyways i wasn'tt talking about Setsuna, I was talking about the guy with a purple hair. Doesn't he look like a girl. Read my message properly irwin, i said one of them i wasn't even directly pertaining to setsuna.

I assumed your talking about the main character(my bad) But if you READ your post again, you definitely did not mention any "purple hair" pilot to back up this:

If you want to continue this, please do in in the Gundam Section. If you want recommendations, go ahead and ask for them, but try to keep it on topic. This is a really useful sticky for a lot of users that can't seem to find series on their own.

Ef, tales of memories is quite good. Its just like 50 first dates but kinda different. Its still on episode 4 and it is worth the wait.
