Well... this chapter should calm the hordes who thought the Akatsuki's 'plan' of using bijuu to be the most hired shinobi was crap.
Is Pain saying another lie?
Does he has his own agenda?
Or does Madara/Tobi approve of this???
After reading this chapter I got the feeling that Jiraiya isn't going to die for some reason, but he will get really hurt with it.
Pain's going to keep things in line with fear, but there will always be someone who'll go against it.
I don't see Jiraiya dying here. There is too much of a 'teacher faces badass student but defeats him because he knows his mental/fighting weaknesses' situtation.
Nagato seems to be quite naive. Unless he is also a cunning strategist, thinking that he could fulfill his aim like this whilst having the rest of Akatsuki on board seems unrealistic. Although some of them are now dead, I can't believe that they would all be working towards the same goal i.e. that of Nagato. Unless he has decided in his mind to kill them all once the bijuu are gathered.
Ah, lots of hair attacks, summoning, and dialogue. And it looks like the goal is a massive A-Bomb.

This kinda makes me think of Metal Gear Solid
lots of weird looking summons in this chapter, the last summon by Nagato seems kind of like a Chimera to me, because of the snake tail. Not really any unique new jutsus shown, but I have great hopes for Nagato's jutsus....and i wonder how his multiple bodys will turn out for combat. Im still desperate for the Sasuke v Itachi confrontation rather than this

Yeah, I am more hyped up on the Itachi/Sasuke confrontation than this one. Not that this isn't great, but the other has been so long in the making, we need to get some closure on it.
I forget which game it was, but I think it was 2 where they were like "We'll sell Metal Gears to the highest bidding country so they can easily get rid of their opposition." Payn's plan made me think of it.
And yeah, I'm a total fan of the MGS series. Too bad I got a 360, if I had money I'd get a PS3 just for MGS4, and maybe FF 13 on the side. But, oh well besides those 2 there's nothing much to look forward to unless I'm mistaken. /end offtopic post.
I think Madara got Pein to kill Yahiko in the same way Itachi supposedly killed his clan for the mangkeku sharingan. He had to kill his closest friend in order to become a "God".
I'm also thinking that maybe what Itachi wanted to tell Naruto was that Jiraiya is in danger and he better haul ass to help him.
The latter prediction is much more based on speculation though.

Would Konan support Pein if he was the one who killed Yahiko though? It seems both of them have experienced a similar change, even though Pein's might be more noticable.

I wanna know what happened to Zetsu. Since they usually fight and die in the order of strength and position Zetsu should fight before Pein. At least if you look at most shonen series. And since Tobi turned out to be Madara one could ask himself if Zetsu is actually stronger or considered "higher" in rank then Pein by Madara himself. I mean Tobi was introduced to Akatsuki by Zetsu. They knew each other from before. So did Zetsu know Tobi as weak Tobi or did he know he was Madara? I've been thinking ever since Tobi turned out to be Madara that Zetsu might be his secret partner. Because we have seen everyone fight so far except Zetsu. And if Pein would be defeated and/or killed in this arc that would mean the leader of Akatsuki would go down before all subordinates. I know Kisame and Itachi are still alive but they are linked to the Utchia-storyline. But Zetsu isn't linked to the story in any way so far. And if the leader is defeated the group should disband and scatter. And i don't see why they would introduce a character like Zetsu and then he would just disappear without even showing anything. Well this have been on my mind for a while now so i just had to ask
This of course assumes that Pein will be defeated in this arc. Even if not by Jiraiya then someone else.
Also Zetsu seem to be much cooler then Pein at this moment because Zetsu has many traits that are interesting and cool where Pein only seem to be cool in the "awesomely powerful" way. But now that we know much of his backstory and history, his character and personality isn't that great IMO. Well at least the fight is on. I hope we get to see allot of jutsus rather then just a big summon war like the Sannin-fight. Also i hope we get to see what that eye can truly do that makes it stronger then the Sharingan and Byakugan. Although Peins chimera summon are pretty cool. That a summon isn't just a fixed species. It looks like a chameleon with a snake-tale and a talk/tentacle that seem to be coming out at the base of the neck which seem to be pieced by several spikes.

What you might be saying could be true, that Zetsu and Tobi secretly know each other, but have you thought of the other alternative? Pein could have told Zetsu to invite Tobi in. So Zetsu doesnt have to have had past relations / strong connection with Tobi, after all.
And I disagree about Zetsu being cooler than Pein. Pein is a rain-making student of Jiraiya who has multiple bodies. Zetsu is a piece of venus fly trap

Why would Zetsu imply that Tobi might not be accepted to the club if Pein was the one who personally requested him?

Zetsu will probably fight sometime soon but he shouldn't be much of a threat, he seemed like he was only for observation missions, like a spy. One of the main characters like, naruto or sakura will defeat him in like a couple minuets of fighting.
Are you kidding me, he must have a venus fly trap jutsu that holds the opponent and sucks their chakra or some crap.
Or itll have teeth like a Victorybell or whatever that pokemon is and eat up the enemy.
And tentacle/vine rape people.

i like the backsotry on pein and konan. finally some decent plot development, instead of just introducing a shitload of strong characters with werid powers who never get any backstory.
Also, jiraya is a badass mofo. He's trained like every super leet shinobi in the naruto world.
Still curious to see what madara has to do with it all. maybe he wants pein's eyes, since they're supposedly even stronger then the sharingan. And on that note, how did he get pein to even obey him? if pein see's himself as a god, why take orders from a 'lesser' being.
Unless Tobi is Pein's third partner who supposedly "died" and was "re-born" by taking sharingan from some sucka.
Which leads to the question why was Orochimaru still after the Sharingan without ever mentioning the Rin'egan?
