it's probably the way for the clone to forward information about his progess, though it's usless since he can poof himself and then all Narutos will know what happened, and there's the problem of having so many birds around...
maybe it's a message for Itachi, like Kabutoro SMSing him "Thinking of you --->-->@"

おそいます, or 襲います means "attack" or "advance", so while "ravage" sounds a little more suggestive, I believe it's more or less a good translation.
