Some "quick techniques" were talked about today in the Dojo:
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/howto...chnique10.html
Sakurai also confirmed that you can change between Zero Suit Samus and regular Samus by not only holding shield before the match starts, but also by mashing your taunt buttons rapidly in game.
That's pretty neat!

Holy shit. There are some of the serious hardcore 2D-fighter techniques in there. These are the kinds of things we see in some of the SF games, Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, and even Virtua Fighter. Yes, I know VF is a 3D, but its one of the most technical fighters period, and Smash shares Ukemi with it among a few others.
Ukemi is a mixture of teching and DI. Essentially if you air dodge after an attack (preferably opposite the direction of the blow) you cancel the momentum significantly.
Perfect shielding was insanely hard to do in Melee even with awesome reflexes, let's see how it pans out in Brawl.
Small jump or short hop was already vital in the SSB64 and Melee if you wanted to play competitively. It led to the SHFFL of aerials and such. Good thing they pointed it out because it is really important.
I'm confused, is "Ukemi" not exactly the same thing as "teching"?? Where are you getting the rest of that from?Originally Posted by darkmetal505

Ah, I seemed to have misread smash dojo.Originally Posted by XanBcoo

Yea, Ukemi is essentially teching but you also have to DI towards the ground, wall, or ceiling, otherwise you'll blow right past it.
Hopefully you can still do stuff like this though:

What I was talking about was the insane DI ability. I read on smashboards that if you DI towards the stage while air dodging after a blow that would kill you otherwise, it significantly reduces knockback.
edit:
the insane DI ability was debunked because due to the fact that attacks get weaker when repeated.
Here is a list of what has been discovered so far:

As much as they tried to prevent Fox from shine spiking, they made his infinite shine super easy.

I don't know if I did this already, but I'm making a mental note to not participate in any battles with darkmetal.

Then I played as Pokemon Trainer and came in second against Peach. Though I learned that Ivysaur is pretty much the best Pokemon.
Edit: Also my victory as Meta Knight was pretty much perfect. We each had one life left and I beat him to a Smash Ball. After we both hit the ground, he attacked me and I rolled out of the way and into a good attack range, releasing my Final Smash. IT WAS POETRY.

Zelda was pathetically underpowered in Melee. As a slow character, she should have hit with a decent amount of damage, but she was pretty much equivalent to Peach (but Peach is of course, WAY faster). That's why the overwhelming number of Zelda users always switched to Shiek. Slightly less damage than Zelda, but maybe triple the attack rate.
However, when Zelda was introduced on the Brawl site, Sakurai implied that it might no longer be the case. I speculated from that they added a significant punch to Zelda's damage.
As a casual player and a Zelda user, I certainly hope it's not just you. Maybe someone playing it now can say for sure. When it comes out here, I'll let you know otherwise. Her movement capabilities are not that good, but her magic adds power to her physical attacks. There’s a reason why her hands and feet glow, after all.
I just downloaded the soundtrack and seriously, this is quite possibly the greatest thing ever. If the soundtrack ever comes out in America or an import is available, I'm getting it. So many memories with these songs.Originally Posted by bagandscalpel

In any case, Charizard is slow and cumbersome, but Squirtle's up B is pretty great.
Also something I noticed about Zelda when I played was that the explosion of her Din's Fire attack has a LOT more range in this game. It seems like a much better attack.

uhm what? thats what they are fuking called in the game, ive been playing it for the past 3 weeks, what else do you expect me to call em dumbass, you understood me just fine so move along.

"For those of who were spoiled on the star-studded roster of the game, you may have noticed that there certainly is room for quite a few more people.
It seems that even the game's director, Masahiro Sakurai, thought the same thing, as he allegedly plans to release new content for the game via a dedicated channel on the Wii. This title would be named SSBB: New Challenger (Challenger Approaching)
and it would grant you additional content for the game in return for Wii Points.
This comes from a scan of an interview with none other than Sakurai himself - a two-page spread of nothing but Brawl, Brawl and more Brawl."
*hugs mewtwo
btw mewtwo and roy and some others ( toon zelda, another pokemon, blablabla)
are already in the game, they are just lacking geometry data, but most of you prolly already knew that.

I expect you to call them by their English names, that's what else .Originally Posted by darkshadow

Even if you don't want to "participate in battles" with me, you will most likely play someone who uses these techniques over the net especially seeing how much faster they will proliferate online.
