Five Technologies That Could Change Everything

Orbiting solar panels without Orbital Elevators?

Glad there's a Gundam watcher amongst scientists who isn't a blind fanatic. Or is it because Orbital Elevators are copyrighted by Sunrise? Either way, if it means the power bill goes down, I'm in.

A receiving station a mile in diameter is one huge thing, though. But I guess if microwave to electricity conversion is cheap and the equipment durable, building such a grand receiver would be no problem, unlike building that big a solar plant.

We've got plenty of space in outback Australia. Feel free to put up a few hundred of these or something....is what I'd like to say. (Always wanted to try this )

I imagine it'd be more complicated though. Aboriginal Rights management might be one such issue.

    Speaking of Australia

    http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/stor...rom=public_rss

At first glance this is just a marijuana article. However, Buff, if this is your neck of the woods you have a responsibility to stop it. No matter what charge you have, the police will not be required to prove grounds of suspicion in court. "Also, police will be given unprecedented powers to frisk people for drugs and weapons." This Premier Colin Barnett and his cronies in the Australian government sound like very dangerous people, they are threatening democracy and will be promptly taking all your rights away if the bill passes. Not to mention anyone who thinks weed is that dangerous in the first place has a vendetta. I bet he was raped as a child. By the Doobie Brothers.

You'd think the man would have the right to die happily if he can do so unassisted. And obviously he indeed can by eating that much. I don't understand at all they need to build a special ambulance for that whale so that they can force him to go through some surgery he doesn't even want.

The UK is a strange country after all.

i don't think there's anything wrong with the man psychologically.. I mean, I'm sure he didn't set out to break the record when he was in fit condition. When you get so out of shape, there's not much you can do. and he took the opportunity to go the extra yard to break a record. I respect the guys decision.

though when it's costing taxpayers 175k a year, i can see why they'd try to force help on him..

Ugh, I can only think about how rotted and decaying his flesh probably is. So sad.

Yeah, there's a lot of glory in being a gluttonous slob. Before long, some other rotund bastard will eat a few more pizzas than he did, break his record, nullify the little bit of meaning he brought to his miserable life, and he and his legacy will disappear into obscurity just like the majority of us. Good game, Fatty Mcgee. I'm sure your parents are extremely proud of you and smiling up at your fatass from hell.

I love hateful ranting. I don't really hold anything against this guy. More power to him. Afterall, There's obviously no-one else heroic enough to step up to the (dinner)plate(kekeke) and risk life(arterial blockage) and limb(diabetes) to show the world what it takes to become a 1:1 scale replica of Jabba the Hut. God speed, Fatty Mcgee.

Windows 7 Whopper, only in Japan

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

    Sweet.

I'm not too optimistic about the recent news of Obama not wanting to waste federal money and time hassling people who are involved w\ medical marijuana where it is legal @ the state level... but it a little refreshing to see it in the news.

But then you have all of these hard liners who are against any form of marijuana legalization and they refuse to budge at all on their stance, or to listen to the opposing argument and facts.

Legalization and Regulation is simply a win win for everybody. Treat it like alcohol, allow home use and use in specified, licenced restaurants or cafes. Tax dollars will fall from the sky...The word recession will fade from our memories !
