What I'm more surprised about is that the law was only passed in 2008. It's been around for much longer here. The fine is also much higher. I guess I should be happy we value safety?

That "swift action" quote kind of scares me. Like he's going to go Commando on her ass as soon as she gets home or something.

This is national domestic abuse awareness month, so Arnold had better be cautious of upsetting the feminist voting population with comments like that.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

The dow jones is currently above 10,000... i don't really care though because I own no stocks !

anyhow... teenage kid set on fire. The people who set him on fire reportedly called him a snitch before throwing rubbing alcohol on him and lighting him on fire..... as far as i'm concerned, everyday people aren't "snitches". If somebody steals something from you and you report it to the police that isn't snitching in my book... snitching to me is when people give up other people to the police for no reason, or to try to get a lesser penalty for their own crimes.

I think they should all get attempted murder.

the balloon touched down with nobody inside : (

Scientist testing methods of suspending animation...including government funding from DARPA to try to apply his theories on the battlefield. Pretty interesting. I wonder what the maximum duration is. I think the longest in the story is 6 hours.

They finally found him at home.

"Apparently the boy’s been there the whole time. He’s been hiding in cardboard box in the attic above the garage," Sheriff Jim Alderden said.

Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.

You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.

The whole thing is a hoax anyway. Watch the news coverage of after they found the kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wI6UONWCq7A

Aside from the atrocious acting on behalf of the mom and dad, the kid flat out says "we did it for the show"

To what he's referring, I have no idea, but this family has been involved in reality tv before (Wife Swap). Fuck the little shit, I'd have been happier if he'd really fallen out of that balloon.

<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs

OH I know that family. They were on Wife Swap twice. The husband is a mysogynistic ass.

    Dad: "Ehhh"
    *faaaart*
    Mom: "No...?"

I agree, they should bill the parents for this waste. But then the parents should bill the local government for providing the emergency response teams with this training opportunity. I'm sure they could use the occasional practice.

At least over here the yellow tape ring denotes training munitions. I'd expect that tube to be such as well. Probably some foolish recruit got bored of hauling it around and got rid of it...
