This goes back to the whole "language as a means to communicate" deal. Why make a symbol and a minute variation of that symbol stand for two completely different things? It defeats the purpose of talking to each other.
It's almost as bad as changing your username on a forum multiple times.

That's true but it only further illustrates my point. Why have two very similar words mean completely different things? It confuses things, as we see in the case of this poor bastard and his woman.

Im trying to figure out why he went to jail. i guess in turkey, killing someone who's chasing you and trying to finish you off while you run with a knife in your chest is considered homicide.
It was probably because they thought it was premeditated murder after he sent her an email stating, "You change the topic every time they are f*cking you". This scenario reminds me of the movie Atonement, where a kinky message gets people in all kinds of trouble.

I very much doubt they thought anything at all. If they had stopped to think for three seconds, the whole incident wouldn't have happened. This kind of stuff always happens only because people don't think. Or are crazy to begin with.

Japanese has lots of similar words that lead to well known puns and plays-on-words. Like oppai (breasts)/ippai (a lot) and kirei (pretty)/kirai (hate)/kire.

I'm not surprised to hear that. What I am surprised about is that Hong Kong is in the top 2 for male longevity. I cannot think of a reason why that's the case.
