REO Speedwagon and Styx are gonna play at my university next month. AND NIGHT RANGER. Holy shit do they even care what students listen to?

I guess most of them listen to pop garbage anyway, while my pleas to book Megadeth go ignored.

The new Megadeth album is so fucking awesome.

Somali pirates attack French military flagship

NAIROBI (AFP) – Somali pirates attempted to storm the French navy's 18,000 tonne flagship in the Indian Ocean after mistaking it for a cargo vessel, the French military said on Wednesday.
Had a good laugh at this one.

Sounds like the pirates should invest some of their collected ransom money into intelligence services. Trying to hijack the very ships that are there to hunt them down isn't the smartest of ideas... Well, of course it's good for the rest of the world they are stupid and get caught.

I prefer my criminals to be dumb and easy to catch.

Funny thing is the article mention that this actually happened quite a few times already.

I made an effort to run faster than Yusserien Bolt, I didn't manage, but I still think I deserve an award.

of course, the other contenders weren't so great themselves, but that's the peace nobel award, it's bullshit.

sig made by Itachi-y2k5, thanks, dude!
Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.

You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.

I voted for him and all, but seriously, wtf?

He was nominated for the Nobel 10 or 11 days after taking office, and in case anyone hasn't been keeping track, he hasn't accomplished jack shit yet.

    - Health care reform: nothing concrete.
    - Closing Gitmo: In progress
    - Bagram Air Base: Still open for business!
    - Education: No Child Left Behind is still in effect, so still fucked.
    - Iraq: Still there.
    - Afganistan: totally fucked unless we send more troops
    - Fight against Al-Qaeda: Potentially about to cause an international incident with Pakistan
    - Iran: Still hates us.
    - Israel/Palestine: ...I'm not even going to touch this one.
    - Corrupt Banks: A-OKAY!

If he gets even half of these accomplished, I've got no problem with it.

But if the reason he won this award is because he wasn't George W. Bush, then the award should go to every American who isn't George W. Bush, including Bush's wife and daughters.

The gracious thing would be a "We're not worthy!" and refuse the award, but he's already planning on donating the money to charity.

The Nobel Peace Prize just lost whatever credibility it had left.

Myth: The prize is awarded to recognize efforts for peace, human rights and democracy only after they have proven successful.

More often, the prize is awarded to encourage those who receive it to see the effort through, sometimes at critical moments.
Doesn't make it any less weird, it's just not unprecedented.

100% agreed - Nobel Prize in my opinion is one of greatest achievements that someone could win. Now it just lost its value, especially peace one.

I can't help but think of the people who worked their entire lives to bring a positive change to the world, so Obama can get it after accomplishing nothing in under a year.

That's about as ironic as Steve Irwin dying from a wild animal attack. The "I" word you're looking for is "inevitable".

Human Echolocation? That's pretty unbelievable. I always thought our hearing was pretty dud compared to animals.
