That's pretty much what I thought, too. He lined the kids up after he stopped them from robbing him. They were no longer a threat. Then he decided to shoot one.Originally Posted by Kraco

<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs
Maybe....
But if you leave the law open to interpretation, you'll have instances where a rapist (with a really good lawyer) could win in a case against a homeowner legitimately protecting his family. If I'm faced with a life or death decision, I don't want to weigh the possibility of being thrown into jail into the mix.
10/4/04 - 8/20/07
It's said that in the case of self-defense, one story is better than two, so be certain that yours is the only one heard by making sure the perp is dead.
“For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?”
There were three other perps. So make that four stories, and he still won. The message is clear: "STAY THE FUCK OUT OF OUR HOMES IF WE DIDN'T LET YOU IN!" I'm for it. A friend of mine mentioned that the version of the story he read had the mother of the victim saying "...I thought there'd be a mother or father on the jury who would understand..." Yeah, they do. That's why their kids aren't out robbing peoples homes.Originally Posted by Animeniax

Thanks for clearing that up They should rewrite all proverbs/sayings to account for the number of people involved in any possible scenario.

I bet those kids won't try to rob someone else. Maybe it'll teach all the other ones not to steal from homes, either.
Whether we like that the kid was killed or not, he willingly put himself in a situation where it could have happened. All the guy had to do was shoot in the dark. They entered his house, one could have gotten killed that way. Of course the parents would feel bad, but that doesn't excuse the kids for breaking into the house.
Not that I'm for it an all :P it's just how things went. No matter how many people don't like it, in the law's eyes, he's a free man.

Dumb Robber I had actually been looking for this one for a while after I heard about it! Finally!
Women say NY's dollar-dance clubs have darker side
And then this one is recent and kinda interesting.

Tanning beds 'kill 43 Aussies each year'
Not as safe as I once thought.
Talking about safety, who else has been following the Chinese Milk Scandal?

Singapore's been affected for sure. People are getting paranoid about anything that comes from China these days.Originally Posted by Buffalobiian

I don't know if it's a good thing or not that this stuff happening just 2 months before your baby's expected Psyke.Originally Posted by Psyke

Currently, only 8 China made products in Singapore have been highlighted unsafe for consumption and the authorities are making sure they're not available to the public anywhere. They're not the popular brands anway, so I'm quite sure it's not going to affect me much. But I'm just sad for China, as nothing seems to go their way, ever.

Let's be realistic. Just 20 years ago China was still a pretty backward place but now it's the home for mega business and much hi-tech, and their GNP growth has been so high for so long that most world leaders would cry a river of happy tears if they ever saw anything like those growth numbers back home.Originally Posted by Psyke
I think it's pretty natural, no matter how unfortunate, that misdeeds like the milk scandal happen under such gigantic circumstances.
Their GNP and development come at a very steep price to the common folk. Industries have little governing as far as waste management and product quality. It's only when people get sick or die that the media and government take notice, but the poisonous milk powder/pet food aren't going to be the last scandals until there is more government oversight to improve the nonexistent standards in China.Originally Posted by Kraco

At school today.... Biiiiiig car accident. There's a hill we drive down to exit the campus. What happened was one car rammed into the back of a car, then it was like dominos. That car hit the next one, then that one hit the next. I believe 5 cars got hit.
I don't know how that happens. I bet the first guy was texting or some shit.

That was funny. The lady was totally surprised.
I don't like ambush proposals like that. She's pretty much forced to say yes, or look like a total bitch and make the guy look like a complete fool.

That's true but in this particular case, although the dude sounded a bit like an arrogant douche saying he would make her cry, I think it was more or less certain she would be happy to agree to it.
What happened is definitely memorable, but would you consider it romantic?
Of course, this is real life, and you can't always have the dramatic music/perfect camera angles/fake tears of a movie studio. So would this qualify?

You don't remember that public proposal that dude made to the girl in a Rocket's game? She said no. It was pretty hilarious. And the Rockets mascot was comforting him, and gave him a beer. T-Mac was laughing his ass off.
I was just about to post that in response to Animeniax's post.Originally Posted by animus

I agree the funniest part is that Clutch comforts him afterwards. "GET THIS MAN A BEER, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE"
