    Over Drive

This seems like an alright sports series, it'll be about bike riding.

    Episode 1 - anfs

Tour de France – it is the biggest bicycle race in the world. Now, a new achievement is about to be recorded in the history of Tour de France. The top racer is a Japanese boy named Shinozaki Mikoto.

“Why don’t you join our bicycle club?” said Fukazawa, Shinozaki Mikoto`s secret love.

Unfortunately, despite being a high school student, he doesn`t know how to ride a bike. With no real idea of what the bicycle club is, he earnestly practices. After he overcomes this challenge, while he pedals along, something that was smoldering in his mind for 15 years ignites.

"I want to devote myself to bike riding."

Experiencing failure with his friends and rivals, he pedals towards becoming the top racer.

this looks pretty interesting, i hope it stays at 26 episodes though i don't really feel like another huge sports anime =\

I didn't really like the first episode...it was kind of slow and the animation was average. I'll probably watch one more episode before I decide whether or not to drop this series.

I don't know, I liked the first two episodes. The female lead character is interesting, and the show has some funny moments that actually made me laugh.

Any of you still watching this series? Up to episode 7 has been released by Mendoi. I'm really liking it, and it's pretty unique as far as sports anime go. The story telling style is very wierd, and how the female lead can be very nice and very bitchy at the same time is a nice touch. It has a really wierd sense of comedy, but it's refreshing... I don't know, I'm really enjoying it.

Yeah, I enjoy it. I just think female lead's a bit over the top sometimes. I like the main character's quirks that he openly expresses like wanting the female lead on his bicycle with a swimsuit on.

That's odd, when were there more episodes out of Overdrive? Tokyo Toshokan only has the latest subbed of it out as 9, by Mendoi.

Edit: Nvm, they have it as Over Drive, instead of OverDrive.

Yeah, same thing happened to me... couldn't find the torrents because of different spellings.

Anyways, the race is pretty exciting, especially right when it started and everyone was trying to get a good starting position, pushing and shoving each other.

It seems that it may only be 26 episodes long, which is a shame... I was expecting it to be longer. Maybe they'll do like Major and divide the seasons. The manga is 12 volumes long and is still ongoing.

Is it me or did starting from episode 10, the intro songs different? Or maybe since I haven't watched in so long, it's the same and I can't remember. It sounds like it could be something straight out of the Initial D sound track. Haven't watched the episodes after 10 yet though, will finish it soon however.

I think I'll have to watch it, being a former amateur cycle biker (lots of miles...) and lover of the "Tour de France" till the day doping has taken over the fun...

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

Haha, I love this. Shinozaki's Enthusiasm Meter powered by his monkey-clapping was priceless.

Yeah, the race is exciting, a lot more than I expected out of bicycle races.

So, do you agree with my assessment that Over Drive is the Nodame Cantabile of sports?

  13. #13
I would probably, if I had watched Nodame Cantabile or read it before. XD

It was all Yamato-kun backstory, but it was pretty good. Especially his habit of punching people.

Meh, I thought they could've made the back story a lot more shorter and meaningful. I didn't like it that much, but it at least gives him a good background and we gain some insight on him.

And here's 16, with the Kurosuke comeback:

    Finally, it's been awhile.

Man, this is such a cool series, and episode 17 was once again a great episode. Everyone cheering for Shinozaki was great, and we learn we get a lot of insight into what he's feeling. That chick in the limo, who do you guys think she is? For some reason I think she or her family had something to do with the accident he had when he was little.
