Absolute agreement. Dancing in the cosplay cafe is one of my favorite scenes in all anime.

After seeing the Akira Kogami ending, I want more endings to display the voice actors singing in a live scene.
Especially Kona-chan!
I'd rather see Kagami's voice actress do an ending instead. You can see Hirano Aya whenever you want.

a.f.k. does seem to be focusing on Zetsubo Sensei instead. I checked out Guerrand's version of 17 and 18, and they're pretty good, font color is an annoying red, but the translation seems good. There's not really any karaoke either, but we all know the lyrics by now.
If you can't wait, give them a try. You can find it on Tokyotosho or Baka-updates. I'd include the links, but the eps 17 one wasn't working for me.

Well, episode 18, nothing much, we discovered a new character who draw her friends in perverted ways, and some other side characters who I don't remember the names.
During the ED, I thought it was the man who was wearing the bride dress at friend, I was scared for a couple of secondes..
As for the preview of episode 19, What the hell? Konata's dad.. nude.. My eyes! It burn!

17 was absolutely fantastic. I loved the Super Robot Wars reference with Full Metal Panic (pure awesomeness just right there), and the Lucky Channel and ED were downright hilarious. We all knew he was going to sing that song eventually, hahaha.
I'm tired of waiting for AFK to sub lucky star, so I will watch the sub from another fansubber.
