    Kiss Dum: Engage Planet

Studio Satelight will be doing this, and I like a few of their series: Macross Zero, Noein, Sousei no Aquarion.

    TIAF07 Trailer

In A.D. 2031, humans are enjoying a prosperous existence until strange life forms called Hardians appear. They suddenly begin to multiply and assault the human population. As a countermeasure, mankind organizes the N.I.D.F. to investigate the Hardians and protect themselves.

A fighter pilot, Aiba Shu, begins to become involved in the battle against the lifeforms. Rurika Yuno, one of Earth`s foremost scientists, investigates the Hardians and hears rumors about the "Book of a Dead Man." What is the secret of this tome, and what relation does it have to the Hardians?

Now, the fight for mankind`s survival begins.

    Kiss Dum: Engage Planet

Yes, I know the title sounds absolutely retarded, but this is a perfect example of never judging a book by its cover, because this is probably one of the best action animes I've seen in a long time.

The first episode just started with a bang, and I mean it, BIG BANG. It reminds me a lot of RahXephon and Macross Zero; though it seems it might be a little cliche'd, but not horribly so.
It doesn't appear to have been subbed in English yet, I'm hoping some group will pick it up.

EDIT: huh... I did a search and didn't even see it. Guess I suck at this...

I was looking forward to this series but unfortunately it doesn't look like anyone's decided to pick it up.

Nice, thanks for the heads up. It does look like they're working on this series right now from their project status page:

I really liked the first episode too, and it does have a Macross feel to it. First episode was action packed, which was nice. At the moment, the current situation is a bit confusing, hopefully the next couple of episodes will slow down the pace a bit and we'll get a better handle on what's going on.

Wow, this is quite a good series so far. And yea, the title pretty much sucks.

    Episode 2 - Mendoi

Edit: Pretty good action packed episode that answered some questions. By the looks of the OP it'll be more of a mobile suit/mecha anime? Though it could just be a buncha various machines used for combat that suits terrain, or environment. But it's also kinda different with the necrodiver stuff with him absorbing metals or some thing. Sounds like that manga that was named Eatman where the main character can manifest anything he ate. I also like how before he finished that monster off at the end, he just chucked Yuno. I laughed.

Interesting ep, it felt really well executed. The whole time I was thinking, man these people are getting completely out classed by these monster things...I was seriously wondering how they were going to have a show if everyone died in the second episode. But then Aiba decided to get down to buisness and everything was okay. Hopefully the phantom girls comments about Aiba being pretty bad at dealing with the monsters will lead to more situations that feel truly dire and thus elicit a richer emotional response.

Yep, pretty much my take on the second episode...

So far I've liked how the first two episodes have been constant action... can't remember a series that started out with so much action, so that at least makes the series worth watching at the moment. I like the mechas so far, they look like that machine-gun wilding robots from Robocop, the ones that were a failure in the first movie.

The tracker was down as of this post but I expect they'll fix it soon, IRC is always available if it takes a while to come back.

I totally forgot about this series. I usually check animesuki for all my needs, and since it didn't appear there I thought they just got lazy. But I guess I now know that it's cause it was licensed. Ugh, I have a lot to catch up on.

@animus These just came out today. I'd recommend switching to tokyo toshokan or baka-updates for links as they link to pretty much everything anime related, licensed or not.

The emotional feel of the series has maintained very well throughout, the people are completely outmatched and people die left and right because of it, with realistic and powerful responses from the charachters. Vaire (Offense) and Valar (Defense) are awesome additions and we've probobly only seen a fraction of their full potential. And what's up with that girl with the pigtails who was in the swimsuit the first few eps... is she friend or foe?

And one thing that really bothered me...why would they have a recap for the 4th ep.

    wooooweee!

this series is just like everyones been saying so far, pretty awesome! haha
I just watched all 6 eps and yeah, it's definitly something you would want to grab. Don't let the odd name put u off cause its definitly worth watching.

lol one thing i'm finding interesting is how they kill people off in like every episode, it really actually does give you the feeling that the world is coming to an end.

but yeah just thought i'd say it again, the 4th episode is a recap, it won't be a big deal if u just don't download it altogether..

mnnn yeah about that pigtail girl, she was with the commander right? haha i really don't understand how u could have human foes, like how exactly did the commander manage to pull of being allies with a lifeform bent on the destruction of the human race?
it is always the darkest before the dawn...

Yeah, I really thought it was stupid to have recaps in episode 4, after only 3 episodes, where nothing much even happened to begin with. But so far as of episode 6, the series is very strong.

    lol, necro-post.
Well, damn, I just finished Kissdum, and I don't know how to sum it up.
The first couple episodes were made with epic-ness, full of fighter jets, mecha, and macross win. Until apparently funds got pulled halfway, So the team had to scrap together the rest. Well, which was why ep4 was a recap... and from ep4 - ep18, were some shounen fighting ######.
But starting from ep19, the plot and visuals received some serious boost. They tried to tie in everything that happened so far and explain some crucial information. Now normally this would fall flat on its face and fail hard. But they actually managed to pull it off decent enough, if not, actually pretty good. So the outcome? A heavy vibe of Evangelion, Eureka 7, Rahxephon, and a couple other series, border lining rip off, but not enough to hate it.
The verdict, I actually enjoyed kissdum quite a bit. I give props to the series for trying at least. I'm glad I sat through it till the end ^_^

Plus, kissdum had some pretty good parodies, most notably, an Unlimited Blade Works reference.
O yeah, the OP by two-mix is pretty awesome too, and the OP animation is well done. And lol, the 2nd OP was just like Evangelion OP :P

I take it you watched the RAWs? I'll let your post be since you didn't reveal any information on the story, but be careful in continuing the discussion.

I watched Chinese subs (hooray for being multi-lingual) and I made sure not to say anything crucial, unless you count mentioning Evangelion and Rahxephon a spoiler :P
