Thread: Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha

They made a big deal that the tape recorder was taken from her as she entered the fortress place that's why I thought it was something supernatural that made it appear in her pocket, but I can't figure out who had the right type of power to so something like that, my best guess is Amber was able to reverse time in a confined space and brought Kirihara's pocket back to a time when it contained the tape recorder. This wold also sort of explain the big guy's vision of the flame girl. Amber could have moved his brain from when he died backward in time so he knew it was coming.

Hmm, I indeed forgot that they took out her recorder. Most likely Amber, can't imagine who else. The big guy who died in the fire was warned by Amber, no doubt about that. She even left the egg that she took from him in the apartment to tell him that. She knew he would probably need it too, since she kept the egg, and that he seemed quite confused until he saw it and realised it was a glimpse into the future.

Ah, I just finished the series also. Pretty good and interesting.

I agree with someone from an earlier post that said that the main character was awesome, in which he is. He wasn't an underdog trying to prove himself or whatever.

I always thought Hei's renumeration was that he had to eat a lot. It also could be because Bai was inside of him.

I only wished they would have showed us what happens to Li-kun or Hei in the end.

What did he mean by the person known as Li doesn't exist anymore?

Li-kun is a persona that Hei adopts to interact with the outside world when he's not acting as a contracter. When his task was over (originally to follow the Syndicate's mission, then to disabling the Saturn Rings), that persona was no longer needed. Hence, the person no longer exists, and dead.

I think I'll wait and see if Sudo subs it. I think I have the other eps by Sudo, so it would make sense to get the extra from them as well, for consistency's sake if not for anything else.

If consistency is the key, I should hope that Shi-, err, Syndicate subs it as well.

Well, I watched the OVA today, and can't help but feel a little disappointed. This series had its share of silly moments, but even throughout all that maintained its dark atmosphere and focused on complex themes of humanity and sacrifice. This OVA didn't really contribute to these themes at all, and seemed more like a work of fanfiction itself. I was hoping for something more thought-provoking, or at least something that revealed to us more about the nature of the gate, contractors, or even about what happened in South America. There is so much mystery left in this series, so much untapped potential, and they gave us an OVA that was just fluff.

    Ironically... I liked the OVA.
But yes... I was expecting something post-ending... or pre-series... not this.

That was filler material. Like RyougaZell, I expected something pre-dating the series.

Finally watched the OVA. I enjoyed it. Surely it was a complete disapointment in the lack of importance story wise, but I thought it was fun.

In other news, this could be complete bullshit, but apparently a some list from an animator from BONES got leaked. From the list, there's a mention of Okamura Tensai (Director/Writer) and Darker 2 next to it. So, there may be plans for a second series of DtB.

Now this could all be crap, so don't get your hopes up. Also, the list includes a sequel for Fullmetal Alchemist.

Here's the list (line 116 for DtB):
    Bones

Here are some sources spreading the rumor:

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't want to get my hopes up only to have them shattered later on .

Too bad you won't be able to enjoy the series then.

    Update on the rumor:
    http://www.bones.co.jp/news/archives/000529.html

Late last week, a file that was purportedly to be a management document from the BONES anime studio was added to uploader.jp, a Japanese website that offers to distribute files anonymously and without charge. The spreadsheet file in Microsoft Excel format included a list of the studio's animation staffers along with what are reportedly their phone numbers, comments on their affiliation and availability, a letter-based classification system, their assignments, and their addresses. Among other points, it listed Fullmetal Alchemist animator Yasuhiro Irie as "Hagane 2 kantoku" (Iron/Fullmetal 2 director) and Darker than BLACK director Tensai Okamura as "Darker 2 junbi-jū" (preparing for Darker 2).

BONES President Masahiko Minami has posted an official statement about the file on the studio's website on Sunday. According to Minami, an internal investigation has determined that no file with this same formatted information existed within the company. He adds that the information which is reportedly the staffers' personal details did not come from the company's documents. Thus, they determined that "a third party" had created and posted document with the intent to libel the company. The studio will continue a special investigation into who distributed the file to malign the studio and the staffers. If the identity of the person is discovered, the company plans to deal with the individual severely.

In an interview after the official statement was published, ANN asked Minami about the possibility of a sequel to Fullmetal Alchemist or Darker than BLACK. Minami told ANN, "It hasn't been decided yet. We are interested in doing them. As original science-fiction works, they were extremely fascinating. With these kinds of dramatic story lines, I feel that there's a lot we could do potentially." The rest of the interview will be released on the ANN website after Anime Expo.

Bah, it was too good to be true. Well, at least they haven't said for sure that they won't do a sequel, so there's still hope on the horizon somewhere in the future.

  19. #179
I think his explanation is BS though, a smokescreen. I truely believe they're looking into making them... that they go through with it, is another thing... but for the moment it's good enough that they're looking into it.

ANN's announced the DtB sequel has been greenlit!
