    REIDEEN

    First episode released by Huzzah:

This is a 2007 remake of a 1975 series. Series is animated by Production I.G., so it should have some good action scenes I'd say.

The story takes place in Japan's near future.

Saiga Junki enjoys his school life as a normal high school student. One day, he hears that his father, an archaeologist missing for the past 10 years, was found dead in ruins located at Iwate Prefecture’s Mt. Kurokami; thus, Junki travels there.

Junki blacks out while in the ruins and witnesses a strange vision. Upon waking, he finds a gold bracelet left beside him with an inscription that reads, "The Great Reideen..."

At the same time, a meteor falls from the sky and a large mechanical beast appears out of a lake.

What is this gold shining object that appeared from out of Mt. Kurokami as if in response to the mechanical beast?

The story illustrates Junki's transference between his normal life during the day and his strange life of fighting by night, the embarrassment of peers, conflict, and human drama in detail.

Will the great power that Junki happened to obtain bring him glory... or fear?

*This is a remake of the 1975 series Yusha Reideen.

There's another remake from 1996 being done by Central-Anime, you can discuss it here:

Hmmm, the art/animation looks decent from their site, DLing!

Also, what happened to your name? SAO is badass, but Budweineken was so much leeter.

Edit: Watched the first episode. The art and animation are real nice and spiffy. The plot however follows the typical routine Mecha deal. Main character stumbles upon robot due to danger, etc. That aside, I find it pretty decent and I'll keep this on my To Watch list.

The battle scenes weren't as good as I had hoped, but I think it'll improve later on. I like the plot execution though. The story telling is well done, and it has a mature feel to it. I liked the character designs too, well in short I'll keep watching for now.

I like the animation of this show aside from it CG mechs. I like Shiori ( Saiga's friend), so id like to see her alot in the show. The battle scenes annoy me a bit, far too slow for my liking. However something that big would have to move around that speed so its got logic behind it i guess, but when has anime ever been logical. :P

I'll be continuing to download it, I am a fan of mech shows.

Edit: As "Munsu" just reminded me the Zombie scene did kickass.

"Chrono is our Religion. In the name of the Chrono, the Zeal, the Trigger and Cross, Amen."

Whoa! I love the feel of this show so far (only 1st ep). and I have to say... the OP is NEAT! i was really puzzled as to what kind of show this was... i remembered vaguely reading that this was a Mecha show... but i thought i was confused with one of the 3-4 others i started for this season...

also, since i just started playing Supreme Commander... well, giant slow moving robots rule!

I guess there's no need to complain too much for the slow moving robots, but man those action scenes with the zombies were very good. Hopefully we'll see a lot of those types of scenes in the future instead of only relying on mecha action.
