Souten no Ken: Fist of the Blue Sky

    Episode 1 - NiTe

This is the prequel of Hokuto no Ken, or Fist of the North Star. The main character is a successor of Hokuto Shinken, Kasumi Kenshiro, who is an uncle of Kenshiro, the protagonist of Hokuto no Ken. The story takes place in Shanghai in 1935.

    * to be updated (Taken from AnimeNfo)

Kasumi Kenshiro, also known as Yan Wang or the King of Death, is a Tokyo professor and the 62nd successor to the deadly assassin art known as Hokuto Shinken. He leaves his teaching job and travels to Shanghai after getting word that his old Qing Bang Triad friend, Pan Guang-Lin, and his friend`s sister and Kasumi`s love interest, Pan Yu-Ling, are in trouble. While in Shanghai, he encounters and fights the three families of Hokuto: Hokuto Sonkaken, Hokuto Soukaken, and Hokuto Ryuukaken. He does all this while revolting against the corrupt Hong Hua Triads to restore honor and power to the Qing Bang.

I have watched about 20 episodes of Hokuto no Ken, and I really like it. I finally decided to watch the first episode of this series, and it was entertaining... Cheezy as always, but it was nice to see heads explode. He reminds me of Clark and Superman... him wearing glasses and playing dumb.

Heart-of-Madness released the first episode also:

From what I see, they made the best release out of all Souten no Ken first episodes.

Great to see Sentosha finally progressing on with the series.

Power without perception is virtually useless!

I'm liking this series for it's historic flavoring as opposed to Hokuto no Ken's postapocalyptic atmosphere.

It was a nice episode, but that fan guy was a bit overmatched. I wonder how many episodes it'll take for someone who can actually rival Kenshiro to show up.

Hokuto no Ken is one of my fav animes... Grew up with that... And I had no idea there was a prequel... Hopefully it's just as good... I'll check it out.
