James Bond gets a hefty whack in the testes in Casino Royale, both literally and figuratively. The 21st installment of the world's longest-running movie series strips away the gadgetry to focus on action and character, introducing a younger, tougher James Bond (Daniel Craig) struggling to complete his first major mission. The target is terrorist banker Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), whom our hero must defeat in a high stakes poker game at the swanky Casino Royale in Montenegro.

They actually open a brand new movie theater here just in time for that movie (as they have numerous times said in the ads), so I will get to see it in a better place than I'd have otherwise as the old ones are quite old architecturally if not technologically. So, not only will I see a new Bond film but I will also get to experience a new theater. All the more reason for me to watch it.

I hope they still have some gizmos in it. Bond surely was one of the most important movie titles of the class where all sorts of strange devices were presented to the audience. It's a tradition and a legacy.

Definitely looking forward to seeing this. I found the last two bond films to be sub-par and hopefully this movie will reenergize my intrest in the franchise. I'm also looking forward to seeing what Daniel Craig brings to the table as the new bond.

Apparently, the focus is not on the gadgets this time. This movie has much more content than the previous ones. Its like “ batman begins”…..Bond’s first mission after he become 007. So we get to see an amateur Bond.

The movie also did a stunt by flipping a car in the in seven times, which is a new record. The old one was 5 times.

I saw the movie yesterday, a damn good one, to my suprise.

liked every second of it, even the parts which made no sense.
even though it had less gadgets (only one which I can remember), and the openning song had no naked chicks sillouthes (however you spell it), but was cool non-the-less..
also, i went to a really good cinema, and had good seats.. awsome

the best way to describe how good it was, is by saying that this is the first movie I watched in the last year and a half that i didn't fall asleep in the middle. HURRAY for 007.

I also caught this movie on friday and I'm in full agreement with ya Death BOO Z. A great movie and a must see for any bond fan.

Hmm, just finished it. The last 20-25 minutes seemed too long, and added on. It was a full film, then just a bit more. Over all good, this one had the least amount of crazy gadgets yet. Also, the new bond is more violent, and rough.

Over all i say go see it for sure.

I got forced into going to see this movie. It wasn't half bad. Although it was a bit over dramatic and predictable.

The first chase scene was good, but you could actually see some instances where it was un-realistic, that is if they were trying to copy the group of guys that does building jumping and climbing as a hobby. It turned out ok though, could have been better. But this might just be the side of me that don''t want to see the movie anyways.

The new 007 has to do some work on his character though, he came off as being extremely rough around the edges, I know this movies is suppose to be somewhat of a window into his past, but still he didn't feel like he was the right man for the job. He did have his moments tough.

The best part of the movie was looking at the face of the girl who persuaded me, when they were torturing bond with the rope, her reactions were priceless and made it worth actually going to see the movie.

All in all it was alright, nothing to spectacular but it is worth watching.

Yes it was a good movie despite the lack of gadgets. But one thing I love that he did have, as always, is the signature Aston Martin. I had to miss the last five minutes of the movie due to the fact that I was already running late for work so if someone would like to PM the details if there was anything interesting to show.

Overall a good movie and in my opinion it does make sense that he is more rash in this movie because it would have shown his early days before the advent of his gadgetry when he is less rational in what he was doing. Anyway, I loved the movie and would recommend it.

I kinda thought they did. Spoiler: The Mr. White was totally an agent of SPECTRE. I think he mentioned in the begining in the Uganda scene that "his organization merely was introducing Le Cheffie to them." That is why in the end, James shoots him in the foot to get more information out of him about his organization...SPECTRE. end of spoiler. I am kinda speculating but I think that is the case.
Overall, I really like the new Bond wwwaaaaayyyy more than the last few (i.e. Brosnon, Moore) because I am a huge fan of the Connery Bond movies (e.g. Dr. No, From Russia with Love, etc.). I too would have liked maybe a couple more gadgets or at least something more than an all purpose 'Sony Erickson' phone. Speaking of Sony, damn there were alot of shameless plugs for products (e.g. Sony, Ford, etc.).

Finally got around to go and watch this, last friday. In a totally new theater that has been open only for less than two weeks now. Jolly good. When you sat there, it still smelled similar to a new car. And of course the screen was bigger and everything else better than what I've been accustomed to in this city, which has been no mecca for movie goers in the past.

Some people have been saying this is the best Bond ever, but I've to disagree with that. While this was a good movie certainly, no doubt of that, still I'm too much of a conservative to change my opinions and expectation so much. I think this movie partly caters to modern times and viewers even if it's based on a genuine Fleming novel. Nowadays movies and characters often are not as single-minded and smooth as they were in the past. However, I like my Bond very smooth and with the healthy attitude of ladies first, missions always somehow handle themselves nicely on the side.

It can only be said so many times, but this one is supposed to be a prequel to all the others released. Bond is less confident, less suave, and less experienced. He screws up a lot in this movie. I really liked that part of it. It connects the viewers more to him because he doesn't always handle things the best way. You feel more satisfied when one of his plans goes of flawlessly.

It also brought out the cruder and messier parts of espionage. There's not that many clean kills with a guard being shot in the chest and flung off a balcony. spoiler[The brutal killing at the bottom of the stairwell that leaves Vesper traumatized for a while] brings back a lot of realism to the series in my opinion, like some of the declassified stuff from the Cold War or even this recent incident with the ex-KGB spy in Russia. Spywork is messy stuff, and Brosnan was starting to make it too clean (especially in his last one). Moore did too, but I don't like his Bond, so I don't really watch them.

I expect Daniel Craig's Bond to go more traditionally in subsequent films, but I really enjoyed Casino Royale, especially how angry he could make M. We've seen Judi Dench's M frustrated or terse with Bond before, but never so openly irritated at him.

yes it is a prequel, But you're wrong, he is very cocky at some points. You do get the feeling that he is searching for his place and questioning his abilities a bit. His character is portrayed to be quite silent though, a good decision for the structure of his character.

And yea murder is bloody and messy, the reminder of that in this movie was an improvement.

But the storyline was uninteresting. I mean it could have been less predictable, maybe it is just me but it was way to easy to figure out.... I like the fact that it wasn't all about seduction (sex), that was an improvement as well, it was getting kinda old.

Concerning the gadgets, he is a "new" 00 and a lose cannon as well in the movie( he has always been a loose cannon but they haven't gotten use to it as of yet), at least that is how his character is set up in this one. And he was a bit of a rogue, and solitary operative so alot of gadgets don't really make sense, don't you think?

Yes pissing off "M" so openly was good and different. But it took away from the feel of professionalism and well there wasn't much witty humor nor alot of line to read between.

Again Yes, there was hints at "Spectre". It was hinting at vaguely though so if you missed it's alright.

The product placement was annoying, and there were alot.

It was a good movie, I just didn't like it that much, nor did i get a good feel from it. Glad that you all did.

A great movie, though not the best. Unfortunate yet thrilling that he's no longer the "Super Agent" that the previous few were (IE Bond remaining clean and styled throughout the whole movie). This Bond was more disheveled. All the while with every female character my friend kept going "that one's gotta be the heroine..or at least the one he bangs" but it turns out there were neither of these.
