    The Boxing Thread

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT AN MMA VERSUS BOXING THREAD

Anyone else here a boxing fan? I used to be a huge fan, then I slacked for a while, now I am getting back into it. Anyway this thread is basically anything about boxing, if you box, or have boxed, drop your experiences, talk about upcoming and past fights, favorite boxers, who is the best fighter of all time, all that good stuff...

I'll start by giving links to some of my favorite fights and highlight reels, even if you aren't much of a fan (yet) these are cool videos to watch.

Hagler - Hearns, one of the best fights ever seen, and its only 3 rounds. Amazing to watch.

Gotti - Ward I, one of the most brutal fights ever, and also with the most heart ever displayed in the ring.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjVbqJIAw-k

A couple from my hometown hero, WBA Jr Middleweight Champion Jose A. Rivera
    v Collazo

v Garcia for world title in second weight division
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LRyW309q6g

One of the best trilogies ever, Morales - Barrera III
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaaclyzIGwY

The man from the Philippines who knocked Barrera off his throne, Manny Pacquiao!
    Barrera - Pacquiao

    Manny Pacquiao Highlights

    The Greatest, Muhammad Ali
I picked this video because it was interesting to see the sheer force and speed of Ali.

I'm not really that big a fan of boxing, but I do watch MMA.
Hmm. No clips of Mike Tyson? I still think in his prime he's one of the fiercest boxers known to man. Just pure brutality in his style. The Takamaru. :P

    Mike Tyson compilation clips.

Yes, boxing is boring since they can only punch. MMA is so much more exciting

This really wasn't supposed to be an MMA versus boxing thread but I'll respond to your comments. I'm pretty sure it is well known that boxing is a more exciting and at times more brutal sport than MMA for the simple reason that boxing has no submissions. The only way to submit an opponent in boxing is through knockout, or technical knockout (cuts, corner stops fight etc.) In MMA, submissions are the fastest and most efficient way to win a match, which is why usually the match is composed of two men rolling around on the ground trying to get a stoppage. Boxing is composed of two men trying to damage their opponent only through strikes to the head and body until they cannot fight any longer. Of course if you think two men rolling around on the ground is exciting, then MMA will be more interesting and exciting for you. I think boxing is the more honorable sport.

Well, to people who have no idea what the ground game is about, it can indeed look like two guys trying to have sex. However, if you think that's all MMA is, you're obviously misinformed. Also, the fact that you're able to submit your opponent definitely doesn't make it any less exciting. It's much the opposite IMO. And really don't see what's so exciting about two guys standing there and punching each other. Kick boxing is great since it adds some diversity, but pure boxing? Boring as hell.

I can respond to each of your statements with the opposite, which is pointless, so we'll have to agree to disagree. Since you don't like boxing, and find it boring, then please, don't post in my boxing thread. Why you would have opened a boxing thread only to state your negative opinion on its entertainment value is unknown.
