according to ANN it's a complete remake of the previous TV series, which can only become something better. As usual, there are some things that are different from the manga, but I hope that they'll at least show the Kyoto arc..

Don't expect it.
Its a new story from scratch, with the world set by Akamatsu-sensei.
First ep already showed Evangeline and her "needs".
Plus Setsuna and Konoka are friendly.
I hope Mahora releases a 2nd version... the quality of this one is awful.
If not, I hope another group releases the series.
The first ep was awesome.

This does seem much better thought out and produced than the "other."
Most of character designs stayed, though Asuna doesn't have bi-colored eyes, a few hair colors were changed, and Chachamaru seems much more like a gynoid.
I'd rather they try to not do the manga arcs, this way it'll be much more interesting and might not suffer as much "fillers." Like FMA, the manga and anime were similar in setting but ultimately different.

Try the manga.
This series isn't based on the manga. Its a new story, hence the "?" at the end, instead of just "!"
Negima Neo is a new manga based on this series too.

Really? so now there's a new manga too? Interesting, may check that out later.
The "?" reminds me of the FMP series, where it was supposed to be FMP! and FMP? but was changed to avoid confusion in conversations. .

Negima Neo Chapter 0

http://www.savefile.com/files/121220
Its over 50Mb. HQ scans (RAW of course).
While Negima!? is -safe for all ages-, Negima Neo seems to have a "bit" of Fanservice, contrary to the massive Fanservice of the Negima! Manga. (Its confusing afterall... the naming)
I was thinking about writing the differences between the original manga and this new storyline... but I think that would go against the rules... so I discarded the idea

Very good second episode.
I find interesting the way they took Chachamaru in a cart. Never thought something like that could be done to her... I mean... I know this is an spinoff, but never thought I see her like that.
I like the way they portrait Evangeline.
Nodoka saw Negi, but must have thought it was a dream.
Asuna accepted magic too easily... even for a spinoff.
First sign of less fanservice, by hitting Asuna instead of...
The opening was... too weird.
Im not liking how they portray the Cheerleader trio...
And why do they keep talking about the CHUPACABRAS??? XD

I haven't watched the original so I don't know how much fan service to compare it to but there was definately some evident this episode. So far this show seems entertaining enough, although Asuna's sword is far too big for me to suspend my disbelief, otherwise I'm liking it and will probably pick up the original if not the actual manga in the future.

Like I said before. Don't count on it Yukimura.
The original anime series was "toned down" and was very bad... even Ken Akamatsu himself said it on his webpage, that he was dissapointed with Xebec's work.
This new series, by SHAFT, will have no fanservice, and it is not based on Negima!, but rather is a new story from scratch, with the characters created by Akamatsu. Best example of no fanservice would be Asuna getting hit with a kettle (I think) instead of stripping her.
Also, there is a new manga BASED on this series, Negima!? Neo.
Oh yeah... I don't think this I said counts as spoiler since the original manga and this anime will be different...
I suggest watching/reading both though.
PS: Will download ep3 later at home.

Just watched ep3. I really like the style Negima? uses. It kind of reminds me of comics/mangas the way some shots have multiple boxes all showing different angle, time, or parts of an action.I'm really liking this series; so far it seems to just be setting up the back story, which shares a lot of plot with the original, but this episode seems to be the end of that. I'm guessing we'll start seeing new changes and plots soon.
O yeah, btw Chachamaru FTW!

If you check the end of episode 3 you will notice Negi's class has just passed from 2-A to 3-A, so that ensures new plots from now on.
I liked the episode in general. Eva's plot is one of the best ones in Negima.
The Pactio in Asuna was in full armor, plus, if you notice, when the Pactio was activated not one, but three cards are visible. Negi just activated one of them. Wonder what are the others.
