    Kikoushi Enma: Demon Prince Enma

Haven't seen the first episode, but it seems it may contain some mature content... don't know the extent of it.

    First episode released by Umai:
    Episode 1 [H264 AC3_5.1] - Umai

"The remake of Go Nagai`s 1973 lighthearted horror anime TV series Dororon Enma-kun now directed to adults and in OVA format. It`s said it will last 4 episodes and scheduled to release on August 25th (first DVD)."

Description for the Dororon Enma-kun series:

"Monsters are coming to the human world from the Hell in order to get human spirits. As people’s minds are getting dirty, being attracted by the dirty spirits, the monsters break the rule to go to the human world.
Tsutomu, a boy who goes to Yokai Elementary School, is suddenly assaulted by monsters. Those who save him from the monsters are Emma-kun, the son of Emma, Yukiko, a snow fairly, and Kapaeru. They are members of Monster Patrol that are sent to the human world to arrest monsters."

I think I'll have a look at this. Directed to adults sounds quite good, especially now that I recently finished Flame of Recca... And waiting for the 23.6 GB of Yu Yu Hakusho to finish is so boring...

Edit: A pretty wicked and ruthless ova. I can surely recommend this.

Here's the complete series, 4 episodes, by A-Fanrips:

Don't know if they are any good, but it's the only group that has released the whole OVA. If anyone has seen any of their releases, would appreciated any comments on them.

Quite a nice ova all in all. Though there was a pretty profound change half way like JMSpeed said. The change in itself, even if I said so myself, is debatable. While Enma (and Yukihime) were kind of main characters, there were long parts of them not being on the screen so in that sense the change wasn't anything surprising, but I guess suddenly switching from the real world to some spiritual world took some getting used to. Moreover because it wasn't immediately evident what was going on. Although soon enough it was made clear enough.

The last touch with the last woman was a nice detail, and served the ruthlessness of the show finely. With it you can pretty much say all those people were actually dead already (that and the fact the police had been there for half a year already without eating and drinking) and the demon was just corrupting their souls into a form it could use as its fuel. The last woman who wasn't consumed was left there as a ghost. No wonder they referred to a lady in red earlier on when she was still collecting the rumours... A nice tie with the past. Details like that are what make decent stories good.

One particular scene I especially liked was when Enma tricked the demon by faking despair. I was totally expecting it and so it when happened, it looked even better.

Ok. I figured she died, but the fact they kept using a cause-and-effect relationship with the characters dying and the painting changing threw me off when the same relationship didn't exist for the final scene. Perhaps the the relationship would be better explained by linking the characters final absorption, then the paintings change.

I didn't catch the "lady in red" reference. But, the final scene does do the OVA justice as you said.

I really enjoyed this rather dark thriller - a nice change from the norm.
