so, ep 4 was pretty interesting. More info about the gun, the Viscount's tank, some more character development on the Corporal, a bit. Especially his background.
That was a pretty intense episode, especially towards the end of it... this series is definitely shaping up to be something interesting...
I wonder how long until someone develops helicopters -- the natural enemy of tanks.
Anyone else here who doesn't like the opening song? The tune is good but it just keeps repeating the same line over and over.
I didn't like the opening song at first, found it really creepy actually. But it's started to grow on me. It's not that different from most of Yoko Takahashi's songs really. I kinda like it now.
This show is shaping up very nicely.
I like the first ... umm, 12 seconds of the song. Then she starts singing, and it really doesn't quite match that first 12 seconds, and the tempo/mood change feels a bit ... off to me.
I think the 4 "Gespenst Jager" instances in a 90 second op stands out as ... well ... sounding the same, so I could see that argument's validity. But my main problem with it is that the first 12 seconds should have been more elaborated, out to 2 or 3 times longer even. At least, that's what it feels like to me, I could use more of that creepy choral+techno-scratch layering in with a bit more complexity, then she can break into song later and make it overall better.

Of course, if you really don't like it, what choice do you have? Bind a key to skip 1:30 forward in $(your_player) (or, if not supported, learn where about a 1:30 skip is) and make it a habit of just skipping it
(... incidentally, the instrumental version of the op on the recently-released op single really highlights just how much the body of the song relies heavily on her vocals ... after that 12-second mark, there's almost nothing beyond rhythm until the 1:30 bridge).
hmm, 13mm... I guess I was close .50 caliber is about 12.7mm. So it just relies on brute force rather than KE, kinetic energy, the math behind Sabot rounds.
I'm liking this series more and more now that we have some more background information.
This series reminds me very much of Full Metal Alchemist, in terms of the setting and the technology.
13mm pistol... It really must take a giant like the corporal to use a monstrous pistol like that. 0.50 Barrett is reported to occasionally cause dislocated bones and ruptured retinae to the shooter. And it's a sturdy rifle. This 13mm pistol is, like the Colt dude pretty much said, not meant for every average man.
I have shot with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun, and it was sitting on a tripod held down by multiple sacks of sand to withstand the recoil...
Episode 4 was awesome.
Machs finding out what the Corporal did before and their chief saying some info is better not known.
The 13mm bullets are overkill.

The whole glass bottle joke was a bit of a surprise. This series seems to be a little more scattered than I would like it to be, but its shaping up to be somewhat interesting.
This was another piece of shit episode.
Yeah. I can't really praise this episode. It did nothing to any greater story, the plot was uninteresting, character interaction offered little (the child was a baby and thus far too young to be a real character). No action, let alone blue lanterns or tanks. In short, this episode could be skipped, and you would never notice you missed one episode, if not for the numbering.
Yeah not good episode at all I heard Mentar (one of the admins of Eclipse) say this episode was not in the manga and also next episode is not in the manga either and its a Alice side chapter. Looking forward to it returning to the manga storyline.

Agreed, there wasn't enough freaking out and shooting tanks. We didn't even get graphic cat-on-cat violence, or Mer-kun chomping someone's skull or anything!
I think the whole point of this episode was Alice making a really, really stupid face and totally failing at baby-care.
I decided to try the first few eps of this and Code Geass, and Pumpkin Scissors won out. Appealing characters, nice setting (mix of new tech into a more primitive feudal society and tensions it creates), plot still working up so we'll have to see. The visual style reminds me of FMA, especially the uniforms, so that's not bad.
I dunno, it just appeals to me. Might be the berserker, I've always like berserker characters.
Episode 8 is out but its Bot-release only right now, Eclipse BT is temporarily down.

Edit: Not a terribly worthwhile episode at all. I doubt one would notice any difference in the bigger picture even if this was skipped. Still, at least it wasn't totally boring. But certainly not enough 13mm rounds were shot...
