    Pumpkin Scissors

    Episode one by Eclipse:
    http://www.point-blank.cc:16384/allo...5D.mkv.torrent
    http://www.point-blank.cc:16384/allo...5D.avi.torrent

"The long war against Frost Republic scarred many places of the Empire; famine, plague, returned soldiers who become bandits… Worrying about these "war damages" resulting from the devastations of the nation and people`s minds, the Empire Army orgnaizes the 3rd section of Information Bureau known as "Pumpkin Scisors", and they assigned the section for the duty of recovery from the war damage.

Three years have passed since the truce so called "thin ice agreement". The 3rd section hasn`t accomplished their task, yet. Rather, they are absorbed in paper works, and without notice, people ridicule that it is an "Excuse Section" that suppress people`s complaint. However, they strive to achieve their tasks. One day, a man offers a help to them. It was a big guy who used to be a soldier. Dangling an iron lantern from his waist, he handles a heavy gun one-handed."

    Excellent.
I've been waiting to see this series since I saw the trailer on youtube.

    Will download later tonight.

It's great to see another Eclipse project. I'll check it out because it sounds interesting, has a rather strange title, and because Eclipse is subbing it.

I really like the premise of this series. We've been seeing a lot of shows that are about wars or result in wars and large-scale battles, but we don't often see post-war (or at least cease-fire) themed series. It also has a Eastern Europe post-WWII feel to it.

The "mysteriously strong ex-soldier" is a little overused, but the will-o-wisp Anti-Tank soldier is kinda original, and one who only uses a breach-loading pistol.

I like Alice as well, the overzealous, justice-driven heroine. In the very beginning, you could see she was severely disappointed there was a cease-fire.

Should be good, and the art style reminds me of Solty Rei (another Gonzo title I enjoyed).

This seems like a rather below average series.. run of the mill characters, bad humor, but atleast that guy's weapon seems kind of cool :\

It looked like a decent enough series to watch casually. I have to agree with mage to a certain extent: some things looked a bit cheap content wise, but I'm not really one to stare at such details too forcefully if the story is otherwise good.

I was also thinking the graphics looked somehow familiar, and perhaps it indeed was Solty Rei like Ryllharu said.

Episode 2 was good, not as good as the first one, but it tends to happen.

A must-see on my autumn list.

Just watched the first 2 episodes, I'm really liking it... we'll look forward to the rest.

Really like the facial expression of Oland when he turns on the blue lantern, he looks like a psycho.

Indeed, blue lantern + Psycho face = teh win.

Alice reminds me of Saber from FSN. Probably due to the character look, and sense of justice she seems to live by.

    "Do commoners drink water?"

Alice has stolen my heart. She's an idealist among the nobles who takes great pride in her position and work, but she's still completely out of touch. She reacts like a child would when her relatives confront her, but she believes strongly enough in her ideals to eventually make it work out well.

Randel's speech and doctor analogies were very enlightened for a Suicide-soldier. A good speech too.

Yeah. Randel's speech was quite accurate and proper, and much needed, indeed. But that fellow has probably seen his own share of suffering, so he has some source from where to draw such thoughts.

Randel's gun is one strange weapon. I just can't figure out what manner of piece it is...

This episode was boring to me, didn't really offer much to me. Yeah we saw some character development, but it could've been done in a more entertaining manner.

It is probably based off the MRI Lone Eagle. The Lone Eagle is a single shot, rotary breech pistol chambered for the high pressure NATO 7.62x51mm (yes, rifle rounds.)

The pistol in the anime differs in the breech action, using a break-open breech instead of a rotary breech, and it's obviously chambered for a much higher caliber round, probably something close to a 50 caliber, maybe even a 20mm.

Looking at the ammo, it seems there are two colors on the bullet, my best guess is it is a Sabot round. It uses a discarding shell to boost short range velocity dramatically, allowing it to have massive penetration power. The fact that he has to use it at point-blank range seems to comfirm this, as Sabots looses momemtum faster than normal ammunition due to its light weight.

    That's my thought...

O yeah, the anime is pretty interesting.

    military otaku much?

I'm wondering how many ways the show can come up with to make him light the lantern and/or square off with tanks... so far we're 3-0 for lantern-lighting and 2-1 for tanks.

Maybe there's some horrible side effects of the lantern that we haven't been told about yet, and he's going to be faced with a Chrno-crusade style conflict -- like, opening up the lantern and using full power might drain his lifespan, or have psychological repercussions or something... I dunno.

Either way, they've got to do more with the gimmick than just lay it out there, and I'm certainly curious where they're going with it.

Also, WTF sorta name is "pumpkin scissors" ... did they just randomly pick two nouns out of their English dictionaries and say "these go together!" ... or were they going for a halloween-type theme? Tim Burton style maybe?
