I actually liked this episode, but I've learned to switch off my logic circuits when watching Naruto. I thought elements were good, and it looks like the studio is trying a little harder than in previous arcs. The fact that the arc is longer than 3 episodes is a good start.
I thought the morningstar scene with Tenten was hilarious and genius. We're all sweating cause the dumb kids are STILL throwing kunai at the target even after Naruto stopped them, then you hear the explosion and think "oh no, someone else has started the chain reaction!" Then Tenten shows up and says she dropped her morningstar. Pretty funny stuff.
Otherwise, lots of logic problems and they really dumbed down some of the characters. Good use of the characters and story progression though. Watchable, if you can train yourself to think like a 12 year old for the 20 minutes it takes to watch the episode.
Ditto. I just try and ignore the illogical things and change around the scenario in my head.
I.E. When lee was told to stop them from throwing at the post, and then he encourages them, I just imagine lee coming in after naruto and neji already left and then helping them with their training cuz he didn't know the post was suspicious at all.

Exactly! For me, I imagined Lee getting so excited by the thrill of competition that he forgets the potential danger, which would be very much like Lee.
Come on man, you definitely have to suspend disbelief and logic in this case. Just imagine Tenten was carrying around the morningstar for whatever reason, ie. protection, training, etc. You're putting way too much thought into it, and it's hurting the experience.
this is one of those instances where you dont take the filler arc seriously... its supposed to amuse you, its not part of the storyline kishimoto planned out...
i also think neji said something about "if i dont know what i'm looking for, i have to really focus in on a small area to see everything." granted that doesnt go with his past performance, but they get away with it for now...

No, now you're projecting. I hardly gave it a second thought when she dropped the morningstar, and didn't have to qualify her reasons for carrying one until you mentioned the absurdness of her having a morningstar to drop in the first place.

The worst thing of this arc is that its a filler, its an intriguing arc, lots of suspense, what a turn! all of konoha tagged! Uhhh the village has lots of explosive tags, will 1000 konoha inhabitants die? Will konoha be destructed, again?
Ohh so much suspense I cant wait to see how NOTHING happens because this is a fking filler thus there cant be any character development and the only people that could die are useless filler filling characters that nobody cares for (except 10 years old kids that think that morning stars, a very ninja-like weapon, are usually carried by a 14 year girl wich previously has to summon wich is quite bothersome to do for nothing).

Edit: I think that I have been a bit too harsh. Nobody forces us to watch the fillers and its true that they wouldnt stop the series or pace it out in seasons, but reading how some people defend them so intensely and even say that they are good kills me.

...who the hell are you apologizing to? It's not like filler writers read these forums. If they did, they would have realized that they don't deserve to live and killed themselves before they could do any more damage.
God I wish the Naruto fillers were like the Bleach fillers. I'd take relatively boring over the 50 things wrong with Naruto fillers any day.
I think instead of pointless fillers which ruin the series, they should get a license to use characters from other anime and make like fight scenes.
I.E. Neji vs. Ed (FMA)
Both roughly taijutsu users with some weapons.
or even chars within the series, like maybe kiba vs chouji.
Or even make up chars completely!
Lee vs some random ninja.

Why? I stated my opinion and I think that fillers would be more interesting if they made ones like Lee's dojo but actually have him fight someone. If you disagree then that's your opinion.
