It might be because I watched this episode when I was extremely tired, but I found it incredibly slow and boring. :S
The movie looks worthless by the way. No surprise there. I already hate the fucking generic anime movie kid. No doubt will he start out as an annoying brat and then eventually learn the value of friendship from Naruto and do that silly pinky thing that I don't understand how anyone can do without feeling like an extreme moron, and they will swear eternal love to each other. And then they will never meet again because the movie is not part of the overall story. YAY
naruto was an idiot for saying this. if he thinks ramen is so good, everyone would like it. it tastes the same weither your ideals are percieved as evil or not.There are no bad people who like Ichiraku Ramen!

this episode was interesting. This one made me smile and not cry from the pain the other has caused. This seems like somethng interesting. Ah, the past of Naruto is finally going to be revealed. This is something that i wanted to know.
Lets see. there was some changes, anyone noticed that that Neji wore a black head band instead of the usual blue one. That was interesting. Also what was up with the guy with no mask with the anbu? did he fall for one of the traps and his mask flew off?
Judging from the animation of the opening and ending the 3rd movie was poorly animated. I am not really looking forward to watching it.
The old man was nice, I wondered why he wanted to see the destruction of Konoha. According to Naruto and Choiji no one evil loves (insert the correct spelling of the ramen shop here) ramen. And after all this time, he came out of retirement. Interesting.

Anyways, this is called "NARUTO" so no doubt he will be key to solving the mystery. That scroll in his room doesn't look like blue prints. I did find it odd that the man drank only water and "always" gives his ramen to Naruto. At this point I'm guessing Naruto's ingested the blue prints hidden in the ramen. Or maybe he's a walking bomb because he ingested liquid nitrogen laced in the ramen. Anyways, all the referrencing to the ramen is blatently pointing out the answer lies with the ramen.
but sakura was showing midriff!!! Dosen't that mean instant winning? She punched a wall that crumbled to :P maybe after 200 episdoes she finally graduated from the academy :P

I'm gonna have to call you out on this one, DarthEnder. Check back when they were fighting the Sound Five (or was it four?). Shikamaru has complete confidence in Chouji. I think he included him in the group because of his love of food, and that will somehow lead them to solve the mystery of the ramen and hidden blue prints.
Bare mid-driff Sakura was pretty cool, until you remember she's 12. I didn't like Naruto or Kakashi in short sleeves either, something un-ninja-like about it.
It looked like more than one animation house did the scenes in this episode. The animation at the beginning was ok, then bad, then the scenes with Shikamaru were excellent, then ok again, then bad, then ok.
One of the best parts of this episode, besides the appearance on ANBU, was when Gennou went kamikaze with the exploding tags. Definitely not something for the kids in the audience!

I also reacted when I saw that old lady. My first thought was indeed "isn't that Sasuke's dead aunt (or whatever she was)?". But then I shrugged it off thinking I just mixed characters up.
Fucking lame...
Maybe it's her twin sister who married outside of the clan, and thus ended up being spared from Itachi's cold wrath.

Interesting premise for this filler, it has potential and I actually was drawn in. But it could go either way. I guess after seeing this first episode in the arc, we are standing on the precipice just like in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. Where he has to have faith to step off the cliff into air. Hopefully the next episode is good enough that we can stand just like he did and survive, otherwise the episode is gonna plummet straight down to crappiness.
