Project Blue Earth SOS
This is a series I've been interested in, hopefully it'll be good. First episode by ureshii:

I'm pretty sure they'll re-release it later with a dvd source, in case you're interested.
"Based on a series of illustrations entitled "Earth SOS. The Earth SOS illustrations were created by Shigeru Komatsuzaki, and published in the 1940s. Komatsuzaki is a famous Japanese sci-fi illustrator and model designer who worked on many popular projects during his lifetime, including the Thunderbirds puppet TV series, Atragon and The Mysterians."

Interesting no one seemed to have watched this before.
First episode was a good introduction. 1st thing that came to mind watching this : Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. This show has the same retro-sci-fi feel to it. It's set in 2000 but the technology and designs are from the 40s to 70s. the aliens shoot weird oval beams like in old B-movies and they are, like all aliens, planning to take over the earth. And they start their attack Independance Day style (that's a pure re-enactment of the scene).
I have NO idea where the show will go from there, but... I'll stick with it.
