    MKV problems

I use winavi video converter to convert my anime to dvd format and burn so i can watch on any dvd player. But now people are using alot of mkv's to save space. And the converter will convert them but i lose the subs. I was wondering if anyone uses this program and knows a fix of a diffrent program that keeps subs when converting MKV's
    (use WinAVI 7.6)
