Ninetails confusion, need enlightenment

As the title said, I need enlightenment, as for a few weeks, I am now troubled with a few things ninetails said.

When Naruto first consciously taps into the demon chakra, he proposes a deal, and the fox answers with something along the line of "You die, I die with you, huh?". In a recent chapter, when Sasuke invades Narutos brain and sees the demon, the demon warns Sasuke to not kill Naruto, or it will have terrible consequences for him. Errr, what?

Who is this demon fox to threaten Sasuke?

• Possibility 1: if Naruto dies, the demon dies (You die, I die -> fact). Scary threat....."If you kill him, I'll die with hard feelings for you". Yeah right, like Sasuke will care.
• Possibility 2: If Naruto dies, the demon is set free (You die, I die -> demon playing along narutos reasoning for unknown reasons). Erm, why should he threaten Sasuke to not set him free? I mean, that's about what he wanted to do for the last 250 chapters - escape from his prison.
• Possibility 3: the demon actually likes Naruto (unknown reasons all over the place). This will only be nourishment for weird "Naruto is the son of the 4th hokage and the ninetails disguised as a beautiful woman" theories, so I'll leave it at that.

Anyone an idea? Or a link to a discussion about these lines, I couldn't find one.

There's something about the Uchiha/Kyubi relation that we don't know about. We'll probably find out in another 200 chapters.

I don't think anyone really knows what will happen if Naruto dies, Kyubi might be assuming that Naruto will try to unseal himself oneday, in order to proove himself worthy of being the hokage (by outdoing the 4th). Perhpaps kyubi is waiting for Naruto to use enough chackra so kyubi could overtake his mind.

fact is, that all we know is that as long as Naruto is alive, so is Kyuubi, which means that the worst case for kyuubi, is that naruto dies of old age and kyuubi gets released and then feels bad he wasted 60 years, which is probably nothing for him.

actually, option #3 is my favorite, we've been waiting for it to come for a long, long time. too bad blasted Kishi is gonna tie this one up to the Uchiha clan as well.

once naruto dies, so does kyuubi. that's my take on the situation. the 4th hokage put a seal on naruto containing kyuubi. so even naruto dies, the seal is still there. if the seal is still there, kyuubi is still there. now if indeed that kyuubi is released, i doubt sasuke can defeat him. for you sasuke fan boys out there that say he can defeat the kyuubi. let's look at the situation. kyuubi vs. 4th hokage: result kyuubi still alive, the 4th hokage is dead. the end.

But thats possessed, The nine tails was sealed inside naruto, not to have control over him (though naruto does lose control). I think if the demon is seperated from the person, by force, or was possessing the user instead of sealed in it, then it will live on.

I guess sealing would be like the demon would be a fetus inside a person and is tied to the life of that person much like a baby to its mother.

Killing Naruto kills Kyuubi, but killing a demon as powerful as him releases enough Chakra energy to level entire mountains. Naruto is a walking atomic bomb and he doesn't even realize it.

I have no reason whatsoever for believing that.

The third used the exact same sealing technique to seal away the revived Hokages and Orochimarus arms, and they went with him when he died.

On second thought, if the fourth knew he was gonna die anyways, why not seal the Kyuubi into himself like the third did when he performed the technique?

Somewhere in the storyline it says the fourth wanted Naruto to be remembered as a hero, thats why he placed the kyuubi in him. I think ero-sennin or the third said that, not sure though.

i think you're confused. the 4th did want naruto to be remembered as a hero, but that was AFTER he had sealed the kyuubi inside of him (ie: he didn't want the villagers to hate naruto and see him as a demon, but rather as a hero).

so kyuubi + naruto = hero, not naruto = hero therefore kyuubi = true

Maybe the simplest answer is that Kyuubi was bluffing and threatening Sasuke because he didn't want Sasuke to kill Naruto.

Yes, once Naruto dies, Kyubi dies. Kyubi is part of Naruto's soul and if Naruto's soul is gone, then so is Kyubi's. I think everyone has stereotypically judged the 9 Demons and there is some secret reason why they sought destruction. Kyubi probably isn't as bad as everyone think he is... As he says he knew someone named Uchiha Madara or something. It seems that maybe Kyubi has had some sort of relationship with this Uchiha Madara. And like some people mentioned, that plotline will come up later on.

When Kyubi said you'd regret killing Kyubi, it doesn't look like a bluff... Maybe hes saying you'd regret killing him because its Naruto, his friend.
