Thread: Le Chevalier D'Eon

    Le Chevalier D'Eon

This seems like it'll be a great series by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell).

    First episode released by AnY:
    H264: http://kaname.animeyuki.org:2710/tor...da595e.torrent
    Xvid: http://kaname.animeyuki.org:2710/tor...a2c1e7.torrent

"In the 18th Century, just before the French revolution, multiple religious cults of the dark side were engaged in secret maneuvers under the name of Revolution. "Le Chevalier D`Eon" (Knight D`Eon) a diplomat and a special agent working for Louis XIV, is fighting against those cults, and also on a mission to find the killer of his own sister. A mysterious cult organization called "Rose Cross" stands in his way, using vicious powers to create a dark creature, "Gargoyle" to take over Europe.

Le Chevalier d`Eon, Charles de Beaumont, was a real-life diplomat and spy in 18th century Europe, most famous for being of questionable gender. D`Eon worked as a spy, politician and soldier for King Louis XV for many years, before returning to France during the rule of King Louis XVI. After his return to France he lived and dressed as a woman. It was not until his death that doctors confirmed that he was a man."

Well this seems to be an interesting series. The animation seemed very fluid and was very well done. The most important aspect however, the story, is complex and you can not really judge after just 20 minutes. I hope this anime lives up to be a beautiful plot wise as the art.

Just watched this -- enjoyed it, and will continue to watch this series, looking forward to the next episode.

Firstly some notes in regards to the encoding,
the h264 audio level was normal (if not a little high), soft-subbed episode, relative subtitle size was small.
xvid (which ended up watching due to codecs not liking h264), audio level was very low, and every so often it changed up/down. Subtitles on this were also soft, however relative size was qutie large (ended up playing with subtitle sizes for 15mins between the two versions).

A lot of the episode has an odd feeling to it I must admit, parts of it feel like an intro to a first person game, and graphics in areas are very shiny/CG'd. This is not altogether bad I must admit, it's just noticable, the shiny/overly clean graphics add to the era I think (France, monarchy), giving a feeling of elegance, or extravagance.

It seems this series will go down the spirits/black magic (traditional sense, not new-age crap), with lots of biblical references for good measure.

Well worth watching, I'm sure this series won't get everyone, but I'd say it'll have underground following here at least.

This seems like an interesting and mysterious show, and of course the high level of animation is a big plus, and the story seems very griping so far. I'll definately continue.

I can't say as I've seen an anime yet that had me so interested after just 1 episode. I too shall continue watching this.

I liked the first episode a lot. Most of the episode where just random seens that didn't make any sense, but by the end of the episode you can get an idea of what's going on. I'm pretty sure the pace will change a lot for the better from episode 2 and on. I liked the animation and the character designs. Also, I like how every character in the story is on a "gray area", all seem to have a hidden agenda, wether they'll be good or bad, all are hidding something.

    Very intriguing premise.

I'll keep watching this one for sure. The animation was top notch, the gore was great and I really enjoyed the characters.
/ No, you warrant no villain's exposition from me.

yea... but it was evident that they were speeding through the introduction... how many eps is this supposed to be. hopefully, no matter the number of eps... they won't rush like Jyu Oh Sei...

Wow. This is a vampire-type thriller that looks like it will kick serious ass. I'm fond of the main character, as religious types aren't often heroes in anime these days.

The first episode moved at a frighteningly fast pace. It did feel rushed in parts, but I wonder if they wanted to squeeze all of that into the first episode so they could end it the way they did, really leaving you wanting to see what happens next.

The animation is excellent, particularly the way they capture the era. Versailles and the crypts were especially beautiful.

Sticking with this one for sure.

Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

Quite a series indeed! I will most certainly keep watching this! I found absolutely nothing to complain about. At first I thought this would stick to realism (and the cults being only that: cults of heretics), but it's definitely better this way. And like Masa said, the graphics are very fitting and succesful in capturing the atmosphere and mood necessary for a series like this.

I'm trying to figure out the airing schedule of this series. I'm reasonably sure the next eps does not air until the 19th of August. Is it going to be a series we watch monthly, quite a lengthly time at 24 eps according to AniDB, or is going to switch to a more regular schedule after that?

The suspense from the end of eps 1 is killing me.

Very nice going. This show has a lot of promise and has already delivered a lot. It's also sweet to watch later European style sword fighting every now and then. Quite different compared to fighting with katanas.

And needless to say, any show that has zombies automatically gets a huge boost! The fact the zombies seem to bleed quicksilver is a fine extra detail.

Aye. I'm watching the AnY subs. It seems they are quite consistently one episode behind Shinsen, but that doesn't bother me so much. In fact, I'm already watching several Shinsen subbed series, so maybe it's good to download at least some series from other sources... For fairness sake...
