    TV: X-Men Evolution

Best damn thing to ever emerge from the X-Men franchise. Discuss.

Okay so maybe some of the episodes from the older animated series were just as good (not to mention in possession of a much better and more prominent Gambit), and the new Legends games are great too, and the movies have their good parts, and and...

...so yeah, there are many great things affiliated with our favorite mutant epic, but Evolution RULES. I love how they take such liberties with various characters, hell, even making me obsess over Avalanche of all people. AVALANCHE!!! He sucks so much in the comics. And yet they remain somewhat true to the source material.

Bottomline, I am currently taken over by the series and I want to discuss it.

    Come on!

this series is alright, but the original was better i think. The first one was alot more vicious. This one is like an animated teenage drama series don't get me wrong it has it high points. Wolverine having a daughter (clone) and all. That was an interesting addition. Its' good series but i like the first one better.

Yep, I agree with dragonrage. This series is pretty damned good but the original animated series > * for many, many reasons.

Yeah well the original was more true to the source material and more serious in general, true, but nontheless, I love how just plain different Evo is. As you say it's like a teenage drama sort of. I don't even like teenage drama normally, but it's a cool take on the whole thing.

    AND NIGHTCRAWLER IS AWESOME <3

I liked the greater focus Rogue got in this series (She was always my favorite, tied with Gambit) and one of the other highpoints was not minimizing Cyclops' eye beams into a weak looking red line like the original series. They gave it the power it had in parts of the comic book and rightly deserves. The original series (as much as I love it) wasted way too much time on Jubilee, the most useless character ever.

Also, in the later parts of the Evo series: [They had Scarlet Witch! She never gets any screentime (or a great deal of time on paper either) and they showed how powerful her powers can really be, unlike that travesty of an Iron Man cartoon series where she did basically nothing the entire time.]

I really liked what this series was able to do given the liberties they were allowed to make. And in the second and third seasons, they addressed the main point of the X-men universe. That despite all the prejudice they faced when they were revealed as mutants, even though they didn't have to and aren't obligated to do so, they still remain heroes. Keeping that message strong is how they were able to take all the liberties they wanted without betraying the image of the X-men.

I remember one cool episode, when Scott and his brother get their powers increased by Magneto and their hair turns white. Scott and his brother was kick ass.
No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you when he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you. I am your enemy from now on. From now on, I am your teacher."
