After this episode I think they are doing it purely on purpose. The drawing scene / thing was the last straw to break the back of the suspicious camel. The warrior girl, Tokiko, tells she can't draw, and then the guy suddenly draw quite a nice picture. I wonder why they just didn't go all the way down the street and make the girl first draw a laughable picture. If that scene wasn't a reference to Bleach, combined with everything else, I don't anymore know what is.

Well, this episode showed a lot more promise what comes to action than the previous ones. When body parts start to fly left and right, you know something is being done right!

The potential of a romance between Tokiko and Kazuki is somewhat underlined and doesn't feel nearly as exciting and interesting as Ichigo and Rukia's in Bleach. Still, I always want to see romances in all shows, so I'm not particularly complaining.

The rest of the cast, Kazuki's (Haruhi voiced) sister included, have been totally useless people so far, though. Sometimes the camera just clips to them, but honestly if all of those scenes had been cut away, the series wouldn't have suffered irreversibly. Of course it's just the first arc going on (it looks like more would come since Tokiko is already nearly finished, so it can't possibly go on for much longer), so who knows, maybe they will be given more meaning later on.

Let's not completely forget our brave warriors of Alchemy!

    Episode 6 - Kyuu

Edit: Looks like the introduction is now over, and the series will move to actual business. Although this episode was already quite badass compared to the five first ones. People with bad attitudes died left and right. And a mysterious figure in the shadows appeared. Much better than the cheapness evident earlier.

The last scene was very nice, if hardly unexpected.

I'd like to voice two of the major complaints I had with this episode.

    Man Thong.

Papillon Mask hidden within said Man Thong.

    'nuff said.

Hah, the Shishio cameo was quite unexpected. Nice homage.

Other than that, I agree with High Wind. I was glad when Papillon died. One ep of a crazed villain in a man thong is enough.

Since the voice actor of the main character is the same as in Inukami, the man thong didn't much surprise me... Still, you are right: I'm very happy the arc is over. Let's hope the villains of the next arc (quite possibly the rest of the series) won't be quite so strange in that way but know how to keep their clothes on.

And yeah, the Shishio reference was funny indeed. I noticed it as well.

    Eagle guy = Kimimaro

Man Thong = Creed Diskenth + Orochimaru - clothes

    Man, this anime is awesome.

I guess I should have been wiser than to expect the rest of the enemies have a more decent style of clothing... And now it looks like even the most gross of them all is still alive. At least he's not wearing only the smallest piece of underwear anymore, even if the new suit isn't much better otherwise. But at least it covers a little more. It looks like this show is making a point with weird clothing, in general.

Well, it wasn't that bad an episode otherwise. Let's hope the action will develop to a more intensive direction with the enemies not being animal types anymore.

Tokiko's introduction to the class was also pretty funny.

Was I the only bothered by man-thong villain coming back and having casual conversation with his nemesis on the rooftop, not completely recovered, and aforementioned uber-powerful nemesis' comrade just calmly looking on and not do anything about it? My mind was screaming, "KILL HIM! MAKE THE STORY BETTER!" while I was watching that scene.

Oh, Watsuki-san, what happened to good storytelling??

If the story or the anime gets good at any time during the series, please pm me if you remember. I have no intention of giving this series a try.

Aye. It looked like it could have gotten better after the first arc, but the reality is it's exactly similar to the first arc. I don't know why the man-thong villain had to survive in the first place, seeing how miserable he was. But considering the new villains aren't much better, I suppose it doesn't really matter in the long run. I suppose it's all for the cheap humour this series seems to try to rely on to fill the comedy requirements it apparently assumes it has. Too bad.

^ well, Mr. Thong does seem useless, but wouldn't it be funny if he turns out to be the reincarnation of the traitor warrior ^_^

Man the rampant sexual innuedo in this show is actually giving me pause...I thought this was a more childish aimed show, but here we find them playing "I show you mine you show me your's" in the bathhouse.

In other news, it's nice to dee some progression in...wow I can't even remember the main charachters name...anyway, I 'm glad his battle experiance and training are showing some results that make more sense than "He just randomly got better".

Actually that was very childish, if you consider the circumstances. Guys of that age comparing their... tools, and trying to decide who was the most well armed. Man, I was ready to drop the episode at that moment, but then decided to keep watching, because stuff like that doesn't really surprise me anymore in this series.

There was a grave illogicality in this episode: Shuusui-senpai's sword was supposed to absorb all energy on impact, yet he was able to use it to cut. There's absolutely no difference between the cases of somebody else hitting the sword and the sword itself hitting something else. The forces present are quite identical.

The script writer has forgotten too much of his high-school physics classes.
