Calling this episode s2 ep1 makes a lot of sense for groups who are only going to sub the new season. This way they can begin the naming process from episode 1.

Here is the post that shows the amazing similarities of the town in Haruhi and some real town in Japan. This makes me think the animation in Haruhi is even more awesome!Originally Posted by RyougaZell

What can I say? I completely loved the episode. It kept me laughing with the usual Kyon-sarcasm and all the randomness.
Sad to see the next new episode will take a while to air though.
E[Yuki] The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009) - 09 (1280x720.h264) [458E3108].mkv
----------------------------------------------
Well I was originally going to watch the 2006 run, followed by the 2009 eps. The SD eps I had were painful to watch though, so I just watched everything in chronological order instead. ie 2009 eps 1-9.
At first it didn't strike me as an outstanding series, not like Code Geass S1 Ep2. It worked its way up though, and Yuki's fight was a real turning point. That fight looked amazing in HD.
Haruhi's dream sequence would be what I'd call the peak. I'm sure someone must have mentioned it before in this thread, it was VERY reminiscent of Evangelion, complete with opera music, giant celestial beings and the psychological desire to end the world.
After that, the random side-stories/activities weren't nearly as engaging, but this series has "caught" me already.

Final Thoughts: Pony tails turn me on too
Really, no joke.
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
That's because Haruhi's dream sequence is the climax of the show, and the final episode of the original airing order. The episodes were not simply re-arranged for the sake of being random, but actually had a clear goal of creating a better flow for the mystery and overall plot. Watching Haruhi in chronological order is (much) worse than watching it in SD, especially because it will end with such an uneventful episode.
Peace.
Concerning that hidden part, it mightn't be much of a problem since we're talking about a 26ep run here. Maybe, I don't know.
I re-read some parts of the thread, and I was actually surprised no-one mentioned Eva.

Oh you are correct about the re-airing being followed by the 2nd season. That should extremely lessen the disappointment you would have experienced if you had to wait for it (for several years!!!) like many others.
Peace.
One of the reasons I bought the limited edition dvd's of Haruhi. So I could watch the episodes in disorder like they aired. There was a certain magic about seeing it like that.
And to be honest... I've downloaded Yuki's episodes just to have the full 26 ep on the same HD format, but I've just seen the new one so far.
In episode 9 (new season), did anyone else notice that poster of Hirano Aya/Goto Yuko/Chihara Minori on the computer club president's wall? I thought it was a pretty nice touch.
Was episode 9 a repeat of an earlier episode?
Edit: Yeah I was confused.

These guys are usually faster than [Yuki]. Might as well see what they're like.
------------------------
-Video quality is about the same
-[Sushi] uses slightly taller/narrower fonts than [Yuki]. Easier to read for some, too jarring for others.
-[Yuki] has OP/ED Karaoke, but not [Sushi]
-Actual sub-quality NA as I'm assuming they're ripping off a.f.k.

Episode 12 of the new airing is a NEW episode. Endless Night.
While we wait for a fansub... here is the new opening:

Yeah, I remember them saying that this 2009 run isn't called a "second season" because it's technically not true. They're making a 26ep show, putting everything in chronological order. The new material doesn't necessarily come after everything else.
Gotta love Kyon's expressions in that OP, same as everywhere else.

That's kinda lame though, since all episodes will be airing in the chronological order.
On second thought after remembering the contents of the novel, it may indeed flow better with a chronological showing this time.
Peace.
um...so which one is now the 2nd episode of the new season? sorry, im confused
The chronological order really is fine, at least to me. To each their preference I'd say.Originally Posted by shinta|hikari

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

Episode 12 is "Endless Night," which suggests they're skipping "Disappearance."
WTF
Novel wise? Yes. Chronogically? I think not.
It was around this part that the novel started to show things out of order much like the 1st anime did.
BTW... still no good fansub for episode 12 =(?
