The photographer should have stopped to tie his shoelaces in front of that model for a third picture...

Just finished this show after reading everyone's comments.

I watched it at quite a high pace... but didn't feel anything special. In fact I think I kept watching it for:
Haruhi's seiyu, whi also was Reira's seiyu in Nana.
Mikuru for her naïveness and her "hentaï like" voice
    Nagato for her perfect zenitude.

The problem I guess is that I had a clear idea of what the end would be quite early.
The other problem is that I did not laugh at all, maybe had one or 2 grins here and there.
I guess there are a lot of references I wasn't able to catch. I'm still too yound at anime maybe

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

It's certainly all about references and a proper attitude with series like this. While this series actually did have a plot it's not like it would play as big a role as in conventional shows. To enjoy or even understand anime like this I suppose you have to accept and absorb also the hype and phenomenon to a degree. But then again, I've always thought open eyes are the best spice for any form of art, and willingness to enjoy. Obviously you can't enjoy everything, though.

The other wisdom is that something that can really be loved by some can also be truly hated by others. Only totally gray things will be meh for everybody.

That's it. It wasn't totally for me. But I did watch it entirely, so it entertained me enough I guess.

I finished the series a couple weeks ago and i really liked it, something diffrent from the other animes i was watching at the time, it was really cool because i was watching Fate/stay night and naruto (still watching) and death note all around the same time. This one had a unique plot, which i really liked.

I love the way this show advertises:

The official Japanese website for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has announced further details about the franchise's next anime project.

Edit: Apparently there's a new director, but he was the guy behind Lucky Star and FMP:TSR, so no worries.

I dont know. Those shows were great and everything, but they had conventional direction (camera angles and the like) unlike the previous haruhi series, whose charm is partly the directors take on how to present the show (Im assuming it includes the jumbled episodes).

EDIT: FTW! DIsappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi. Awesome part. I dont think it would take 13-14 episodes though. maybe it will include several short stories like before, probably the ones skipped over in the anime.

Sorry, no news about a second season, but I found this on youtube and had to share it for those who loved the song God Knows.

Nice.... I want to be able to do that too

btw 3:39-3:41 = fast forward? that doesn't look human!
I know that drummers are really fast... but that was just....wow!

I mean he instantly got back to the normal rhytm again.

awww, I don't know, playing drums looks always so impossible... those guys do like 20 things at once without destorying the rhythm, I bet its one of the most difficult instruments to play

Yeah the video made me want to go learn the drums too. Too bad I'm 2 decades late.

Anyway, check out the live concert version of the song here. Only if you like Hirano Aya's voice though.

The problem I have with most of those artists is that the quality of their singing is really too different in live compared to studio.
Of course it's normal to have differences, but that's a bit too much here, like in many other cases I heard. I guess that part of the problem is also attitude and giving to the audience.
I won't be too harsh here, because for some reason the singer is very concerned with her guitar and it adds a lot to the problem.

Thanks anyway for the heads-up as the song is very good and I like it... and had forgotten it.

Haruhi 're-airing' to be 28 episodes long?

The Gigazine website has updated its article about the ongoing "renewed" airing of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya television anime series to corroborate reports that the airing in Japan will be 28 episodes long. The original 2006 Japanese airing of the anime was only 14 episodes long. Gigazine contacted the Teletama broadcasting station, and a representative reportedly told Gigazine that "we hear from the client that it is 28 episodes long." The Teletama representative also told Gigazine that the station does not know the details of the episodes' content — just that "it is 28 episodes long."

The J-Cast news website also contacted Teletama, and a representative said that the station heard that the "renewed" airing will include new material because of the planned 28-episode allotment. The 2009 airing began on Friday with the episode "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya I" ("Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu I"). This is the first episode chronologically in the science-fiction comedy storyline, but the second episode to air during the original 2006 broadcast.

Kadokawa Shoten published the original Haruhi Suzumiya light novels from Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito. America's Little, Brown Books for Young Readers is publishing the light novels in English. Bandai Entertainment released the 2006 version of the anime in North America, while Yen Press is publishing Gaku Tsugano's manga adaptation.

I quite enjoyed Haruhi and am looking forward to this. I think some of those episodes are gonna elaborate on the first season a bit while the other remaining episodes will contain new materials. Just a thought, though.
I am training in the shadows.
Currently playing: All of your games, probably.

The 14 of the 28 episodes are the episodes of the new season. The 2nd season starts July 7, according to some scans.

And what about the episode order?
That was one of the reason I couldn't enjoy that show to the level I should have.
Will it be easy to just watch it as it comes without fearing having the wrong order?
