I really wanted to give Haruhi a smack this episode, just like Kyon did. It is not really because I hate her, but she was acting like a brat that needed discipline, and she is not innocent or young enough to deserve child protection.
The pony tail scene was very cute though. It is nice to see that Haruhi is not composed of 100% percent ego.

I just don't get that last scene, was kyon just curious to see what would happen if she knew or at least entertained the possibility of their real identities?

So, will we get a third season soon? Because this was a shitty last episode, imo. As Archangel said, whats with the sudden hostility between Mikuru and Koizumi? This needs more episodes.
I don't see why not? It's sudden, but isn't all that random. Each group has an idea of how the world works, why they were created, and how things must be in order for them to survive. Those ideas conflict, and if proven wrong, would mean the demise of the respective party.
It made this whole thing much more serious, and seriousness was what was lacking for me ever since they dissuaded Haruhi from destroying the universe. I was greatly entertained at how Koizumi saw Asahina's "act", much like how he acts all easy-going normally.
Regarding Kyon's mention of the three parties, I think it was his attempt to end everyone's worries that they'd disappear by making Haruhi openly believe they exist.

Wait, so this was the last "new" episode of this season?
I think the last scene was a flashback. Remember the last episode in season 1 (non-chronological order) when Kyon said that he would tell Haruhi about aliens, time travelers and espers? Maybe this is the reason why Haruhi could "guess" their roles (for the movie) so accurately.
Can't say for sure, since the producers are forcing the studio to stay silent about Haruhi's broadcast details.

To me it feels like they're trying to make some kind of joke about Disappearance disappearing. After Endless Eight I'm expecting to be trolled... :P
With that said I don't know much about what Disappearance is about (not a superfan of Haruhi), therefore I don't know what I'll eventually miss either.
On the topic of archiving, is a.f.k only releasing SD subs? The recent episodes haven't been of spectacular HD quality anyway, but a quality HD backup from somewhere would be nice. I just found out [Sushi]'s probably dropped it like [Yuki] did.
