Uncut Naruto DVD on sale July 4, 2006

I found this while browsing at Amazon.

    -> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130

The first 13 episodes of Naruto on an uncut-dvd boxset.

Seems Viz hasn't forgotten about the fans.
No box art is available yet, unfortunately.

The boxset comes in two versions. Normal and special.
The special edition just contains a headband and wrist cuffs.

Normal box will cost 38dlls (at amazon).
Special box will cost 53dlls (at amazon).

DVD Features of the special edition: (for normal just don't count the HB and wrist cuff)

    DVD Features:
    Available Subtitles: English
Available Audio Tracks: Japanese (Unknown Format), English (Unknown Format)
13 original and uncut episodes on three discs
Includes original audio tracks and original series soundtracks
Japanese with optional English subtitles or English dubbed
    Storyboards booklet
    Collectible gold-foil embossed box
    Naruto headband and wrist cuff
Limited edition: only 15,000 copies printed
Dunno how they will handle the english track, due to the dub having cut scenes, but if I buy this set I really don't plan hearing that track.

    Thoughts?

    PS:
I searched the forums, and did not found word of this.

My first thought was "bootleg" but this seems legit.

    .
Feckin awesome. I hope the later boxsets come with this deal. I'd love to get a head protector and wrist cuffs along with the 3rd Chuunin exam episodes for 50 dollars.

they have the uncut scenes dubbed as well, but they only show the cut episodes on tv.

I'll be picking this up. With Viz handling Bleach now, I think it'd be neat if they did the same thing for that.
Pictures of the box (which looks pretty good, I think) and the other goodies can be seen at http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/cat...em/69878/4/0/0

I'd really like to get this. However I'm not sure if it is worth the 50 bucks since I have the Aone releases.

Well really, what's the point to buying anime if you can just download it? I figure if I don't get this box set then I'll at least get the Rock Lee fight episodes in the spirit of "supporting the industry". Plus, I like the dub, so it'll be cool to have the official U.S. DVD and dub audio track. Very worth it imo.

I'll just grab the normal version since the headband and wrist cuffs don't interest me.

I think I agree with Maverick; I see no need to dress like a character. I'll spend a good deal of money on anime DVDs to support the industry, but if I ever start getting into cosplay I'll put a bullet in my head.

I'd love a head protector and the gloves. Of course I disagree with the idea of cosplay as well, so I wouldn't ever wear them in public. Never. When I'm at home though...

    Or is that worse?

Haha well I have a Konoha head protector, which I pin on my notice board, among other stuff I display. It's fun to wear and pretend for a while, but anything more than that will really be weird.

I just got a second job for the summer that pays double what my normal job pays. Once I have all my bills paid off and insure my car I can afford to buy more anime. Guess what's first on my list (except maybe Voltron).

My copy of this just came in today. Got the regular one without the headbands.

Good stuff. Text in the subtitles is like the TW subs(yellow with black outline), very easy to read.

Plays the original japanese openings and endings reguardless of if your watching it dubbed or subbed(*sniff* so good to hear Wind again).

I think the dub might actually be even better than on TV. I can't be certain, but Naruto doesn't seem to say "Believe it!" as much.

And the subs are just great. Couldn't find anything wrong with them. They pretty much use the same words as the dub. So Jonin, Genin, Hokage etc. And "translated attack" Jutsu for attacks.

All in all, nothing to complain about.

DarthEnder, do the openings and endings include the karaoke lyrics? Are signs and building names translated within the animation too?

I'm buying this set even though I already have the AnimeOne-Anbu subs. We need to support the industry and companies like Viz so they can do it right, instead of hackjob dubs like other companies do when bringing anime to the US market. I can understand if some of you younger guys who still make around minimum wage can't cover it (no joke, we've all been there), but for the rest of you leeches, (Grandpa Simpson voice) for shame!!!

    No and no.

There's no karaoke. Only translations of the lyrics if you have subs on.

And nothing that isn't spoken aloud is translated. So if it's a sign, you have no idea what is says.

Exactly. I didn't NEED to buy these DVDs, but if you don't support the people who do things RIGHT, then you end up with more companies doing the One Piece thing.

I'm pretty certain they only added in the stuff edited out of the TV versions, and didn't take out previous dialogue. In reality, Naruto never said "believe it" that much anyway, but "harcore fans" decided they didn't like it for whatever reason and completely overexaggerated the matter.

Like you, I can't be certain, but based on what I've heard I'm 99% they made no other changes other than what was edited off of TV.

Dark Ender are you sure the DVD's don't have 2 sets of subs? One for the edited for TV croud and a second for the truely uncut subs. This has been done on many uncut DVD's including Yuyu Hakisho for example.

The fact you said that the subs are very close if not identical to the dub is a big hint that those likely are not the real uncut subs considering Naruto didn't say "Believe it" in the orignal and rather stated "becaise thats my way of the Ninja" atleast from what I recall.
