    "Adaption of the amateur created murder mystery computer game Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni developed by the studio 7th Expansion. Studio Deen will produce the animation.

    The main character of the story is Maebara Keiichi, a young teenager, who has recently moved from the city to the rural village of Hinamizawa with his family. He`s adjusting pretty well to his new life, making several friends at his new and small school, playing games every day and passing his days in a bliss, when suddenly a murder case happens...

    From that point on a mystery, which traces back to happenings five years ago, begins to unravel itself before him. But which is that he is bound to find out and more importantly, will he be able to digest the truth behind all of this."

    Opening of this got me interested, and thought I'd defintely stick with this.
    The rest of the episode seemed somewhat ... seperated from opening sequence, shame really, odd mix, opening is fairly graphic, rest of it is fairly kiddish.
    subs irritating at times (speech without translation, use of 'WTF').

    Suppose will have to watch few more episodes till get better picture.

    Unsure what this forum's etiquette on matter is, however if I edited orignal post with new info, anyone who read orignal wouldn't bother looking at thread again since from their point of view - no new info.

    I agreeing with seanos on the matter of the opening comparsion to the rest of the episode. I am assuming it will be getting more bloody and we will see some murders but I dont think I can take the crap getting to that part of the series. I'll give it one or two more episodes, before it finds its way to Haku's home for shitty anime series.

    I just watched the first episode, I think this is going to be an awesome series. The opening scene was great, but the rest of the episode was shitty, though I think it's setting up the series nicely. I actually like it this way, there's a big contrast of themes here, so I'm sure many unexpected things will happen in the future, I'm sticking with this one.

    hey... haven't been posting for a while...

    but i gotta post about this show... since it seems people have stopped at ep 2...

    DON'T... its gets sooo much better... its on episode 5 now...

    really... by ep5 I realize, there is two ways this show can go, one that will merely be entertaining, and one that can make it memorable. oh, and this show is violent as hell, not so much because of the blood, but because it all feels (and sounds) so real.

    I watched the first episode, was quite impressed, and somehow forgot about it.
    Watched 2-4 last night (Sticking with Triad releases), man it's gotten a whole lot better, looking forward to next release now.

    Would advise sticking with Triad or Ayu on this, unless wind? have gotten better since first episode, wasn't impressed (overuse of cursing, doesn't sound at all right).

    I'm sticking with WIND simply because they actually take the effort to release one episode a week. Their quality is decent for the past few episodes.

    Episode 5 is the start of a different arc. I'm at 8 now and... if you think the first arc was messed up... this one is downright scary. it seems they are realy good at switching the art from awfully cute to disturbing very rapidly.

    The beginning of the second arc makes the whole thing a bit anticlimatic. The very beginning when Rika kills herself with the knife and Mion's standing there laughing.

    The first arc made me sick to my stomach - but I think eating while watching this stuff was a bad idea all around.

    Thanks for the clear up darknodin, I thought it was a flashback, but I guess they're doing some different scenarios entirely. I'd have to agree that the switch from cute to crazy is really disturbing. It kind of bugs me though how Keichii instead of him asking, waits for someone to tell him why this town is crazy.

    another thing... it seems that each arc looks at things that were left unanswered before. How many eps is this supposed to be?

    EDIT: After watching up to 11... I must say, that third act is quite good... especially ep 11... aaaand, the baseball bat is BACK!

    Over at animenfo it says a total of 26. WIth this going on for an entire season, hopefully we'll get an arc where everyone is normal or at least Keiichii manages to live.

    I know, I already watched the second arc when I said that. I meant it was surprising that they didn't show why Rika was killing herself. In the first arc, it showed everything that led up to Keichi smashing the girls with a baseball bat. In the second arc, those two girls just kinda disappeared.

    Third arc is the coolest so far (and longest since it didn't end at episode 12).

    some spoilers ahead (up to episode 12)



















    Episode 12 was weird... All the other episodes you felt had some sort of root in reality, but this one makes no sense at all. Right now, I'm starting to think that Keiichi has just lost it (well, he must have to have killed the uncle that way... whether it happened or not).
