    Soul Link

I was kinda interested before I watched the promo for this series, so I'll probably give it a chance. Anyways, first episode was released yesy:

"* Based on a game by NAVEL

Aizawa Ryota was in the 3rd grade of the preparatory course of Central Military Academy. AD 2045, he went to a space station, Aries, for the training with his classmates including Nagase Saka and Nittak Kazuhiko. However, the station was attacked by a terrorist group, Hallarax.

Can they escape from the station and get back to Earth?"

After watching the first eps, I have to say I was a little underwhelmed. Since we can't really help but compare it to other Navel works, namely Shuffle!, I will use that comparison to describe it. The first eps of Shuffle! caught my attention immediately, and kept it basically the entire length of the show.

As for Soul Link, it didn't really hit off anything. It came off to me with Stellvia, Kiddy Grade, and [insert random other space show with romance elements] vibes. There was nothing great about it though, it seemed kinda...bland. They showed a lot of characters without introducing them though, so I imagine as the show progresses it will get a lot better.

Don't let my opinion discourage you from watching it though, I'd really like to see what other people think since this show was anticipated by a fairly considerable amount.

I hope it picks up in a few more eps though.

AnimeU also released their version of the first episode... I'll give it a try this weekend:

    First Episode - OK.
Again, very hard to tell much from a first episode, I generally have to force 1-2 episodes till I start getting into something (always exceptions of course).

Well, the first episode was decent. It has some potential so I'll give it a couple more episodes.

Watched the first ep and have to say that I liked it, it could've done without the panty shots though. The girl with the gun that is sneaking around seems like a cool character. Since I like her the most already I suspect she won't get much screen time . All the characters so far seem cool though.

This show seems to have a bad rep over at GF but I'm actually enjoying this show the most out of the new season. The Introductory eps weren't that good I admit but since the attack the eps have been pretty good. The little plot twist they threw in ep6 was pretty good since I didnt see it coming. If anyone is looking for something else to watch they should check this out. Sub wise I'm following Yesy because Your-mom subs seem to leave the screen too fast.

More Soul Link goodness is out, I'm looking forward to seeing the connection between Celleria and Shuuhei.

Ep 7 by Yesy is out

*Edit*Another good episode, the thing that happened at 10:40 had me like woah didnt see that coming. And finally that little girl shows up, since she has no memories and seems to know Shuuhei I'd say she's 100% Sakyura.

I picked this series out of better things to do when Boxtorrents went offline for a change, and this was a nice little packet to download in the mean time. I remembered scanning some posts here earlier and thus wasn't exactly expecting anything spectacular.

The first episode was sheer torture to watch, as most characters were total airheads, and I have no idea what so ever why they are supposed to be in the military. Back when I was in the army most of these boys and girls would have been shipped back home on the first train to grow some balls.

However, after watching the second episode something began to dawn on me, and during the third episode it was indeed very evident: This is one of those series that's so badly executed, accidentally or purposefully (you never know what those crazy Japanese are thinking) that it's actually funny. Quite funny indeed. I can't help but think that for the director or script writers this is the first action show ever, and in the past they have only made some light school drama or something.

The action is particularly hilarious with hand-grenades being thrown with the pin still safely securing the handle in place (that's good for these n00b soldiers, but too bad the grenade still explodes), cadets that are afraid of guns (gee, I wonder why they joined the military in the first place), half a dozen military personnel shooting at an unmoving target at point-blank distance yet still missing after multiple rounds... Man, this show is pure comedy, even if anidb and animenfo have forgotten to include the comedy classification in the genres list. But ANN at least noticed it.
